Nature inspired brunch

A brunch setting that is sweet and simple
and inspired by nature?
Yes, please.

You probably already know that I am a huge fan of outdoor dining and entertaining
and with Mothers Day coming up in less than a week,
it is a perfect time to gather up some inspiration for a couple of easy to put together
and charming brunch ideas to share with you.

Mothers Day always gets me thinking and reminiscing a bit.
About being a mom, about my mom and my grandmother who was
much like a mother to me and about, really, how do you say
'Thank you' ?

For all those times she took care of you when you were growing up
the scraped knees, the runny noses, the first love heartbreaks, and all the in-between.
Well, and maybe even made sure you were towing the line when you
 thought no one was watching.
Not that I was ever guilty of not towing that line.
I mean, come on, perfect child over here ;)

Okay, 'perfect' is pretty far from the truth if it was to be told.
But one thing I always knew when I was figuring out just who I was,
and rebelling against the world -
was that I had someone who loved me
even when I was pretty unlovable.

I'll delve into that a little more in a little more of a mushy post,
 but for today,
I am jumping right into what thinking about doing on Mothers Day inspired-
a very simple and elegant brunch table setting.

This table was also somewhat inspired by that gorgeous green that is all around right now
and uses clippings right from our yard for the centerpiece.

#1. Keep it simple

It doesn't have to be complicated. Keep it simple.
Start with something  easy to put together for your centerpiece.
Fresh tree foliage and tree blooms simply laid down the center of the table
bring a simple but charming burst of energy.

I have a little bit of a love affair with green garlands down the center of a table
and so chose to clip a few branches off a tree in the backyard to lay a base for a centerpiece.
No  tying together or anything complicated-simply lay them down the center-
in whatever length you need.
Next up- a few clippings of Snowball Viburnum- which is also a tree- bring those big beautiful snowy flower balls.
The clippings of dark purple berries are from a ligustrum and were just tucked in here and there.

I love it when I can walk out into the yard and find something to put in a vase
or down the center of a table.

#2. White dishes

When it comes to dishes,  keep them quietly elegant so that they compliment the simple centerpiece.
Classic white dishes are subtle and love the little touch of gilding on the edges.

Gold flatware plays up the detailing on the dishes
and adds that glimmering Midas touch - which is perfect mixed with green and white
and bleached wood.

#3. Easy Cooking

Of course it isn't all about the table setting- there might food involved with a brunch ;)
Keep it easy to prepare ahead of time and use fresh seasonal produce.
Favorites?

Fresh fruit bowl or salad
coffee, tea, juice
and a sweet but not overly decadent dessert
such as a blueberry cheesecake- which is as beautiful as it is delicious.
(recipe coming your way this week)

Each of them are easy to prepare ahead of time so that you can enjoy yourself
instead of working away in the kitchen when hosting-
which is always a good thing.
