The red, white & blue.
With chippy paint and a jean jacket – love.
Patriotic and seriously simple
and you just have to love anything that involves old patina and well worn jeans.
But this post isn’t about jeans and patina and a vintage American flag.
Today, I wanted to say thank you
to all the men and women who have served our country and to their families.
America definitely wouldn’t be America without you.
And since my house is currently decorated with sheetrock dust, sawdust, old wood & broken tile bits
instead of beautiful red, white and blue and flags and all things Americana,
I thought I would share some red, white and blue inspirations
from previous posts on the blog
from previous posts on the blog
like this one from 3 years ago- for the 4th of July.
And a few photos of a well worn tattered vintage American flag
that I found at the thrift store that I adore.
I know the Flag etiquette is to properly dispose of a flag when it is damaged
but to me, the tattered threads and wear show something far more important than a pretty new flag.
It shows that that flag was flown proudly for years
in the wind and the rain and the rays of the sun
by someone who loved it and believed in it and took pride in displaying it.
So, I see those flags as well worn AND well loved.
Okay, I am off to get ready for another round of demolition…
whatever you are up today- enjoy!
Coming your way soon:
The yuck from the bathroom project
A dried floral DIY
and what I was doing down in Tiburon last weekend
Happy Monday everyone.

Courtney, I see a worn flag in the same way. I've kept all our flags through the years, but confess that I recently donated them when I was doing the big purge for our upcoming move. Seeing your flag vignette makes me think of my own flags. I hope someone else will appreciate them for the same reasons.
