In a room filled with layers of shades of white
wood plank walls, old chippy paint
and well worn and loved hardwood floors
simple elegance is perfect.
If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you know how much I love Christmas and decking the halls.
From the living room to the kitchen to my bedroom to the guest rooms.
Christmas is all through the house.
But one thing I am a big believer of is when decking the halls
and sprinkling some of that Christmas magic around…
the decorations need to fit right in with the style, look and feel of the room.
I don’t want to have to move things out of the room to make way for Christmas to come in.
From the mantel to the tree to the bits here and there-
I want Christmas decor to blend with my everyday look
that I love to live with.
that I love to live with.
For some that is bold colors or a collection of antique ornaments.
For me- it is a softer palette.
For me- it is a softer palette.
In my living room
layers of whites, florals and a touch of gold are on repeat all year long.
And I want the mantel dressed for Christmas
and tree to feel much the same.
and tree to feel much the same.
Soft and elegant. Simple & white.
Shabby but with a sprinkling of glamour.
This year, the tree in my living room is dotted in
simple elegance.
An abundance of white baubles in different sizes
and just a touch of French blue was all it needed.
I started with the Noble Fir from Balsam Hill
which has gorgeous blue green branches with a slight curve
and placed white ornaments here and there.

A favorite tip-
I don’t like to overwhelm my tree with ornaments- I am more of a
I want to see the tree along with all the ornaments type of girl.

I actually love the look of a tree decorated only with twinkling lights sometiems.

So when it comes to ornaments and bits and piling them on- not happening.
For this tree,
I used just 2 boxes of White & Silver Snow ornaments (12 ornaments each set)
and 2 boxes of sugar sprinkled Clear Ice for a 7.5′ tree.
The Sparkle ornaments are these gorgeous simple blown glass clear ornaments.
These are some of my favorites this year-
they look like they are dipped in sugar and dotted with crystals.
I am in love.
Group ornaments together for impact- I generally group in 2 or 3 with
a large one included.
I also added in just a few random ornaments and 5 of the faded French blue ornaments from
Balsam Hill’s Winter Frost Ornament set
and those lend just a touch of soft faded shabby color.
Loving how simple and sweet it feels.
And with rustic pieces in the room playing along with the elegant- it is
pretty much my favorite mix and mingle.
I will share more about the mantel and a closer look at those gorgeous French blue stockings in another post- and you can find the pieces I used here
