A couple of weeks ago,
my husband and I wandered over to Calistoga for a fun couple of days
with our favorite B&B in the wine country.
You might remember the post all about the Cottage Grove Inn in February-
It is such a charming inn with individual little cottages with porches and wood burning fireplaces.
And they just added a brand new wine and dine experience this month and
my husband and I were so excited to have a chance to go on a 3 day getaway with Cottage Grove to see what it was all about.
And I am happy to report- it was amazing.
A fun couple of days of wining & dining in between relaxing and rejuvenating?
Such a treat.
We tasted excellent wines, tried our first ever wine and cookie pairing
and even dined in a wine cave… so much fun.
Today, I am sharing a few amazing places in Calistoga to stop and sip and enjoy the ambiance-
and also to dine out (and what to order).
The best part about Calistoga and staying in the wine country is of course- Cottage Grove Inn.
Little houses with fireplaces and jetted soaking tubs and the most charming ambiance all around.
They start your day right with delicious breakfast- and bring wine and cheese
to your room in the evening.
And it is in walking distance to downtown Calistoga.
This trip-
we started our 3 day excursion at Hope & Grace Winery in Yountville
I highly recommend their Reserve Cabernet. So.good.
And their wine and cheese pairing was incredible.
While there, we wandered around St. Helena a bit and did a little shopping before heading to dinner
at Brannan’s that evening.
I enjoyed a beet salad that was good for you delicious amazing.
Up next was an amazing winery situated on property
surrounded by nature, horses and stables and so much elegant country ambiance
We sat outside right next to the horse stalls and enjoyed tasting wine in the fresh air
while loving on the animals.
Something fun- they did a wine and cookie pairing.
Different from the traditional wine and cheese- and it is something they came up for an exclusive experience – and yes, it was amazing.
And I seriously want to adopt one of the mini horses that they have rescued and are caring for.
I fell in love with them- and I love that rescue animals are a part of their world.
It was Boskos for dinner that night-
and I am here to tell you to get the Lemon Artichoke and the homemade focaccia eggplant sandwich.
Just.Do.It.
Absolutely delicious.
The third winery we went to was such a treat.
Dutch Henry was so charming- right down to the little Airstream on the property.
We tasted wine and dined inside their wine cave in a room that made us feel like
we were in medieval times.
Such fun- and something I highly recommend.
And the last one we stopped at that day was VGS Potelle.
A bright and colorful little treat with fun stories and wines.
Of course we also spent some time
driving around and just enjoying the lush green that the Napa Valley is covered in right now.
All of that rain we have been having has done amazing things for our landscape here in California.
If you are planning a trip to Calistoga- I highly recommend a stay with Cottage Grove-
and don’t forget to ask Lindsay for some recommendations for local wineries, things to do and
the best places to taste wine.
Calistoga is a bit further up at the top of the Napa Valley- but it is a little vintage gem. Charming houses and quaint shops.
To find out more about the wine & dine specials at Cottage Grove Inn which are new and changing all the time- and to book your stay-you can read all about it on their website.
And stay tuned…
there just might be a fun treat for French Country Cottage readers coming
your way.
🙂
I am on the way home from an amazing and inspiring High Point Market
and will be sharing all that inspired me and what I did while there… including what I bought
very soon.
Happy Tuesday everyone.

I'm so excited. We're staying at Cottage Grove Inn in mid-May, coming all the way from Texas. I learned about this place on your blog, Courtney, and I can't wait to see it.

Love the photos, the last winery looks really cool with the rolling hills and stone arched entrance, i m kinda of sucker for any thing with big stones like ..ie fire places , stone work on the front porch. The horse was such a cutie…. So which cookies do you like with which wines. I like a white wine with chocolate chip cookies that were placed in the freezer before eating.

Beautiful scenery in wine country. Looks cool and green, especially with all the rain. I can see why it's a favorite place to go with your husband.

When my husband and I went to California for vacation, one of the top things on my list was to stay at the Cottage Grove inn, all because of your pictures. It was fabulous – we truly enjoyed every day there!
