Friday favorites- charming pumpkins with a secret

Yes indeed... you read that right.

These pumpkins most definitely have a secret.

It isn't that they are chunky and adorable
or that they have the sweetest little details.

Or even that the terra cotta might actually be the perfect subtle shade of 'orange' for autumn.
Those are all true but they do have a secret...
Any guesses?

I promised you guys a closer look at these little charmers awhile back
and completely forgot to share the secret they have.
The secret is that they will last from autumn right into Halloween
just by turning them around.

These are actually Halloween pumpkins.
But when I first saw them
I thought of autumn for the porch with cabbages and heirloom pumpkins
 and was  pleasantly surprised when
I picked them up and found little Jack O Lantern faces.
I am big on decor items that you can use for more than one thing
and whether on the porch or on the coffee table-
these will last right through Halloween.

They were at HomeGoods just a couple aisles over from those mercury glass pumpkins
 I shared earlier this week.

And coming your way next week-
a little more spooky styling for a Halloween mantel and vignette
that is big on elegance.

Happy Friday Favorites everyone.

  1. I've had one of these terra cotta pumpkins with the jack o lantern face since the early 80's. I use it just like you said. First it's on my porch, then on Halloween it's illuminated with a candle.

  3. I have a ceramic matt glazed pumpkin my mom made back in the 70's. I do the same thing with it...only turn around for the jack o lantern face the night before Halloween and the day of.
