I like white painted house with shutters to trim in black and yes the small diamond black and white tiled entry way.it has stood the test of time and is still unbeatable.

The take-away was to paint the main entrance front door a color that emphasizes that is is the primary entrance. This can be reinforced by decor around the front door. Whatever color you choose, you may wish to keep this in mind.

I went through the door issue also. Our home is beige brick, white trim. I painted the front door a lovely, soft French blue and I love it. First I love blue and second, the French believe blue keeps away evil spirits. Thus explaining the color blue so widely used on their doors, shutters and in their kitchens.
