Elegant french chairs wearing a chippy finish
and beautiful floral needlepoint …
with a tiny white feather tree, nestled into a bucket
sitting quietly atop a stack of faded and worn vintage suitcases…
Simple & Charming.
Mixed with elegant and pretty.
Have you heard the song
‘Shades of White’
played on the piano by Jim Brickman?
His music is soo beautiful.
Lovely & perfect for quiet moments.
Sunday morning
I awoke to the sound of pouring rain battering the rooftop
and the outside world.
It was dark yet,
with just a bit of light coming in through
the french doors in my bedroom.
I put on my slippers and warm comfy robe
& turned on each of the Christmas trees
waking a few rooms in the house.
Then I poured myself a cup of coffee
and turned on some Holiday music
before cozying into my favorite fireside chair.
As I sipped my coffee,
the world was so quiet…
so calm, so peaceful and serene…
Just the sounds of the rain tapping on the roof
& the glow of the lights from the tree
and a little Brickman playing softly in the background.
It was almost magical…
Simple & Charming
mixed with elegant & pretty.
What a delightful way to start the day.
Happy Monday Everyone!

"Shades of White" made me feel as though I was sitting there sharing a cup of tea with you as the rain gently brushed the rooftop. I say keep it. I can always hit 'mute' if it happens to be inappropriate for the moment. Thanks for sharing your lovely vignette. Merry Christmas! Cherry Kay

Hi and Merry Christmas! First, Jim Brickman is my very favorite piano player. I have 3 of CDs, as well as 2 piano books by him (I play, too, and love to copy his style.) What is the name of the album with "Shades of White" in it? Second, I love, love, love that setting. Sooooo beautiful! Linda

Your morning sounded like paradise to me. The music was a nice addition to the post. I've had the same debate, music/no music. I finally put it on my side bar and give readers the option of turning it on it they want it. However, I'm not sure how many readers actually take the time to look at the side bar each time they visit. Oh well, it's there if anyone wants it.
Best,
Susan

Hi Courtney! This was an absolutely beautiful post…almost poetic. I wake up to rain almost every morning and there is nothing like hearing that and knowing that you are snug and safe in your home and slowly turning all those Christmas lights while the house is still quiet. It is such a calming way to start the day and you captured that perfectly with your words and gorgeous pictures! 🙂

Courtney, Beautiful pictures and music. The first thing I do each morning is plug in the tree and lights on the mantel. There is something magical about starting your day this way.

What a beautifully inspirational way to begin your day, Courtney. 🙂 I love JB's music. It's so relaxing to listen to….I can just imagine it combined with the patter of rain on your roof. Sweet sweet morning sounds….May your Christmas be brimming with love and joy — and a little snow instead of rain. 🙂
