I shared the newly rebuilt pergola (HERE if you missed it) yesterday
and several of you asked about the sheer panels
I used for the drapes and how I put them up.
So here’s more information~
The panels are tulle that I found at IKEA-
2 panels for $4.99
unbelievable price!!
Love it!
They are extra long- and can be cut to length- they are not hemmed on the bottom
but they work well for outdoors as they are.
I purchased 10′ long metal conduit poles at the hardware store-
about $3.00 each
and the $.25 metal clips to hold them on.
I only had to purchase 2 new poles- three of the old ones were usable and the 4th pole
that had bent all crazy, I was able to use two sections of by cutting it.
You will need a hacksaw to cut the poles to the length you need
and an joint piece or extra clip if you need longer than 10 ft lengths and need to join two pieces.
(Just one more screw and it will be done…gotta love the tag!)
They work really well, because they are galvanized and don’t rust easily.
Just attached them to the pergola frame and put the curtains on them just like a curtain rod.
Voila!
Instant romantic pergola!

π

I SO love your pergola and what you've done to it! I did not know about those panels at IKEA — that is a STEAL! I may have to go get some to use for decorating at my son's wedding . . . glad I live close to one! Thanks for the great info!

The pergola looks great…what a job to reconstruct it though! And, to move it …can't wait to see what you do with the old spot it stood in. Your draperies are wonderful; the really soften the whole look. Hugs-Diana
Hi Courtney….I have those same IKEA curtains from Ikea in mine and my daughter's room. Not only are they the cheapest things in the world, but I also love them to death!!
Have a great weekend…

Hey Friday friend! Thanks for linking up your lovely pergola to Inspiration Friday this week!
I have had it on my mind as I dream about summer and imagine sitting out there with a mojito or glass of wine in hand. So sick of being cold! π

We can't believe the price on the curtains – wow! We just had friends that finished a pergola last year….we'll suggest these panels to them…then, we may pick some up to put along our porches π Thanks for the great idea!!
Karla & Karrie
Thanks so much for featuring us! We really appreciate it!
Awesome project! I love what you did with the curtains- and I'm excited that you found them at IKEA and at such a great price! I've been to our local IKEA a handful of times, but I get so overwhelmed in there I miss the little things. I really need to make a note to poke through their fabric/drapery department next time I'm over there.
