A bouquet of roses & tulips mixed together might just be
a new favorite cottage bouquet.
It wasn’t a well thought out plan for a bouquet
I’m more of a fly by the seat of my pants girl when it comes to flowers and decorating.
I go with what inspires me mostly.
I was looking for pale pink, soft lavender and creamy whites
My favorite flower source had gotten in mostly oranges, yellows and greenery in their shipment the day before.
What about my favorite spray roses? They are always one of my go to bouquets.
Nope, those spray roses didn’t come in at all.
Spray roses are favorites of mine when shopping for flowers- they give you a lot of bang for the buck.
They are smaller flowers and there are several on each stem.
Usually costing around $3- $8 depending on the size of the bouquet and style of the roses,
they give you a gorgeous bunch of blooms for the price.
You can spread them around to use in different vignettes and rooms and they are wonderful
for drying as well.
I left my favorite flower store empty handed but while running errands,
decided to pop into another store to see if I could find those elusive colors.
I finally found a perfectly pale pink bunch of roses and
also picked up something else that my eye kept coming back to.
A simple $3.00 bunch of tulips.
Just a few stems of each mixed together are perfect
and an unexpected new favorite combination.
I love them in these little dainty sugar and creamer dishes.
They are so sweet with their vining flowers and lacy edges.
You can find them for just a few dollars at the thrift stores occasionally
Just cut the flower stems short
Even though it’s looking quite romantic in these photos~
the little cottage is getting decked out for the holidays this week
and today, I am working on something involving branches and twigs.
Yep, it should be interesting.

haven't seen any tulips around here lately and I don't think they would be that inexpensive if I did and I never see spray roses either. You are lucky and what you create with them is magical …. xo

I have mixed tulips and roses for years as they are two of my favorite flowers….these colors are so beautiful!
I get tulips at Sam's club almost year round and they are 9.00 for a bunch. Our grocery store, Meijers, has gorgeous roses for $9.99 up to $12.99 a dozen except at Valentines day where the price triples.
Always enjoy my visit here! It is always full of eye candy!!!

What a breathtaking combination, Courtney! Where do you find your spray roses? I buy my single stems at Meijer's like Jil does, but they never have sprays. I simply can't imagine my week without fresh ones. Don't know what I'm going to do if the price triples for Valentine's Day like Jil says it does!!! lol

Just mix it all up roses and tulips… that is what they do too at the markets in Holland.
