Thanksgiving was pretty eventful this year~ busy busy busy
but I am ready to re-group and get some serious decorating done.

Here is a literally crazy re-cap.
My husband and I started the long weekend off with a treat~
An evening in San Francisco to see my absolute favorite opera 'Tosca'.

The War Memorial Opera House is amazingly beautiful with architectural detail galore.

(Iphone pictures- sorry)

SF Opera's production of Tosca was amazing.
I had goosebumps pretty much the whole performance.
Tosca was played by Angela Gheorghiu that night and it was so exciting to be able to see her perform.
She has such an incredible voice and was a perfect Tosca.
If you have never been to an opera- I highly recommend anything Puccini.
I love them all but  I will never forget the first time I saw Tosca.
I had heard the music for years and one in particular made me tear up every time I heard it -
it was filled with so much emotion
Then  I saw it performed and the first notes started
and I sat there crying along with everyone else.
Here it is if you are so inclined to listen

 It is absolutely amazing.

After the performance my husband and I walked to the
'safe and secure' well lit opera parking garage where we had parked.
Unfortunately, it was not so safe or secure the night we were there.
Someone had smashed my rear passenger window and broken into my car.
They grabbed the new clothes I had just picked up at the store before dinner
 but thankfully not much else.
Seriously, thinking of some of the things we have left in the car at previous performances
we were incredibly lucky they didn't get much else.
We have parked there many many times-but noticed something different right when we pulled in.
Let's just say- we will be listening to instincts next time
and thinking we should just leave the windows down for the thieves too
to save ourselves the $300-400 window replacement cost

Once we got back ~ the Thanksgiving insanity started.
I have a wild and crazy family- yes, that is my disclaimer.
It started off with a LOT of coffee and of course, a little cooking and eating.

Then there was the karaoke.

My brothers

Chris and Cullan singing away while Ry and Cassie look for the next song

This brother is available ladies~
he is super sweet- gives the best hugs and he's a fireman

After an evening with lots of fun singing ( I am not usually singing- I just laugh! HA!)
a little Gangham style dance (don't ask)
and my brothers wild hair that seemed to have a life of it's own when he took his hat off~
we jumped in the car and headed home.

Even though we are all pooped out~ Thanksgiving was so much fun
and it was wonderful to spend time together
and give thanks for the many blessings in our lives.

Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful and very blessed!!
Happy Sunday!!

  1. Hi Courtney! I'm italian and I live near the place where Giacomo Puccini was born: Torre del Lago, in Tuscany. Here every summer there's a Festival, the Pucciniano Festival. I'm glad to see that you love Puccini... I follow you from months, but I don't leave comments, because in this period I wasn't in web so often... Hugs!

  2. Oh Courtney, I am so sorry about the break-in!! I know how that feels!
But it looks like you had a wonderful time at the opera and on Thanksgiving! I think that is such a great tradition of singing karaoke, it sounds like such fun!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

  3. I remember you posting that in your facebook about your break in.That same thing happened to our neighbors car.But in his case it was the GPS they spotted and broke the window on there brand new car too!
Glad that the opera was so nice.I have never been yet.Looks like a fun Thanksgiving at your family's house!

  4. Sorry to hear about the break-in and theft, but glad you had wonderful family time. much fun!

  5. I am going to listing to the music after dinner. How thoughtful of you to post it for us!

I am so sorry about your car and clothes. I really think there will be more and more of with all the people out of work. Sad, isn't it!

Glad you had such a fun and happy time!
    ♥ Jil

  6. That is awful about your window on your car. Looks like you had a great TG with the family.

  7. No where is safe anymore from someone profiting from your loss! I live in a small town of 78,000 and they will break into your car for a cd if they think they can get .25$ for it. Sounds like a lovely weekend aside from the breakin. Patty/BC

  8. I am so sorry about the break in, But very happy you guys enjoyed the opera. Thanks for sharing.

  9. I'm glad that your story had a happy ending with your fun Thanksgiving with your family and that you still have your car!

  10. What a way to end a fun night out--but glad to hear you were safe, AWAY from the car. That totally sucks--it's happened to me too. Worse was when my house was burglarized while I was out of town. I don't get what's in some people's hearts.
Come on Courtney--no singing or Gangnam style for YOU-?!? Our family has super big "bop-it" competitions, and I always instigate dancing to the "actions" of the game! (-fun to watch the ones with no rhythm) ; D

  11. Je suis désolée pour ce vandalisme!!!!
    Heureusement, la soirée fut joyeuse!

  12. So sorry to hear of your car break
in... we here know to always take
everything off our car seats.. car
    break ins are popular... Your
night at the opera sounds heavenly
    as I love opera...
    Happy Holidays

  13. Now, that was some eventful holiday, Courtney! Great that you enjoyed in opera, and had a wonderful Thanksgiving. And really a bummer that thieves messed with your car... Thank God nobody was hurt. Hate to hear these stuff.

  14. Hi Courtney!!

I'm so sorry to hear about the break-in:( I agree with Katarina, I'm glad that you both weren't hurt.

But, I'm glad you enjoyed the opera so much!! My son treated me to the Lion King, and it was spectacular. The opera house looks so beautiful and elegant. Elegant for an elegant lady.

    Enjoy the weekend!!
