Do you ever get a wild hair and just start doing something random you weren’t planning on?
Like moving all your furniture maybe or painting your rooms a different color?
sometimes those wild hairs come out of nowhere.
I was sorting through the leftover wood the other day looking for some inspiration
and I found a few pieces of old fence boards
random sized and oh so weathered.

Cedar boards? Oh yeah.
It’s disclaimer time:
I LOVE weathered cedar

I LOVE weathered cedar
LOVE.
That old rustic look it has & that silvery gray coloring
old splinters and random graining..
old splinters and random graining..
Sigh.
So I grabbed a few of the random sized pieces & after staring at them for a few minutes
I had a thought.
Maybe make a simple wooden crate/centerpiece/planter/whoknowswhatyouwouldcallitbutIloveit
So…
I cut, I hammered, I assembled and about 15 minutes later-
a simple crate was born.
a simple crate was born.
Filled with clear jars or bottles holding a single bloom of last weeks stock
perfect for a table centerpiece or maybe set in a fireplace or on a mantel.

Last summer the same wild hair hit! Rummaging I found some… but unlike you. I am a failure with the saw and hammers… so I called upon the trusty Mr. He had it done n no time. Greying cedar perfection.
Luvly Courtney.

I love your simple crate. I am about to retire and I think I need to take advantage of being next door to the shop class at school. I need to get a bunch of project ready so I can play with wood all summer.
Thanks for the inspiration.
