There's a touch of that crispness in the air
and lots of leaves starting to drop from the trees lately
and lots of leaves starting to drop from the trees lately
Yep, it's that time of year.
Time for hot cocoa, warm fires outdoors, chunky sweaters and boots.
That time when little white pumpkins, baskets, and lots of peachy pale flowers dress
the rooms and outdoor areas around our home
Truth be told, I am not a huge decorator for Fall~
that's more what I like to do for Christmas decor
that's more what I like to do for Christmas decor
For Fall, I like to add bits of subtle seasonal touches to my rooms
and enjoy that sweet mingle between late Summer and early Fall.
I love dried flowers,
mixing pale pinks with white pumpkins
and lots of gilded golds and mercury glass silvers

Mixed with wheat and natural grasses they are pretty much staples in my Autumn decor.
Disclaimer: I am not traditional in Autumn decor by any means.
;)
Now...Halloween decor- especially for parties?
That's another story- I love to get a little creepiness on for Halloween.
But for today, I'm sticking with subtle.

Now...Halloween decor- especially for parties?
That's another story- I love to get a little creepiness on for Halloween.
But for today, I'm sticking with subtle.

So, with my pale colors, lots of whites and simple natural touches
I am joining a great group of bloggers
who are sharing some of the rooms of our homes decorated for Autumn.
Even though it has been in the 80's much of the week up here and it certainly hasn't felt very Fallish
I did get some Autumn inspired decor done and photographed over the weekend.
Here is a glimpse of the start of the Fall decor that is appearing around French Country Cottage
In the kitchen~ I decorated the breakfast area with vintage baskets and paper plate holders
A few dried roses and a seasonal quote on the chalkboard and it was finished
So simple in the dining area~
for now it's just a bouquet of mixed sunflowers, roses and safflower
on the table with a few little pumpkins
In the living room~ soft faded dried florals are the main attraction
Lots of white dishes and brown transferware
The buffet deux corps is graced with dried flowers, wheat, waxflower
and simple greens on it's shelves
I always love to collect some of those large acorns that start falling this time of year
and scatter them around as well
and scatter them around as well
The mantel is simple for now
with one of my favorite streaky, cloudy, mottled old mirrors wearing a new love this year
a natural wheat wreath. I love these and have placed them in several spots.
Dried hydrangeas are marching down the mantel - which they did all Summer long
so a few pumpkins are tucked in for Fall now but I have a feeling this area will get it's
full Fall makeover soon

The bedroom mantel gets a new look each year for Fall as well.
This year- I used the cedar box I built in the Spring and filled it with
pale and dark pink dried roses
Yep another wheat wreath on the mirror- love them.
Yep another wheat wreath on the mirror- love them.
I love the gilded touches - like the pheasant, mirror and sconces
Another wheat wreath wearing a green grosgrain ribbon hangs on a gilded
antique mirror
I know it's not the traditional oranges, yellows and reds.
My Autumn decor has a romantic twist with the pinks and whites
and is big on natural and very simple touches
Like a single small white pumpkin on the commode
or a couple of them on the dainty chest of drawers in the bathroom
Simple is pretty much my mantra
Those very simple, natural, romantic touches continue into my office
where more dried florals are mixed with old brassy golds and white pumpkins
My Fall decor is not quite wrapped up yet
so I will be sharing more in the coming weeks including the rest of the office dressed for Autumn
as well as the guest cottage wearing it's seasonal best
More on that soon- but
this week you are in for a real treat.

Yours is the first! (At least on my dashboard.) Your house looks great--with all your pale colors a lot of the traditional autumnal colors would be too jarring. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAs always, BEAUTIFUL! Happy Fall, Courtney!
ReplyDeleteLove your roses and pumpkins. The leaves are already falling here. I think mostly because it was a bit of a draught summer. Hope you are having very nice weather. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteYou've done a soft and lovely Fall in your home, Courtney! While the orange colors always say "Fall" to me, I find I am liking things toned down a bit more in recent years. Your décor appeals to me and it doesn't take over.

ReplyDeleteMy friend, there is NOTHING simple about your home. I love that you maintain your soft spirit of pink and white throughout your home, even for Fall. No one says Fall has to be all orange. You do dried roses better than anyone I have ever seen. I love your "simple" touches. Thanks for kicking off the first day of our tour with a bang! xxoo

GORGEOUS Courtney!! I love the acorns in the teacups.
ReplyDeleteCourtney I love it all! So soft and pretty. Who would think of the bathroom? That is just elegant. I am with you - not a big fall decorator - maybe it is the orange thing! I like some soft white pumpkins and naturals.
ReplyDeleteYour home is extremely gracious...I have so enjoyed this tour.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to coming back again soon.
Shel
