I love giving wine as a gift during the holidays.
Seems like even for those hard to buy for friends and family
a bottle of wine is always appreciated and enjoyed
So I thought I would change it up a bit this year.
You might have seen similar tags on Ballard Designs website
love love love them
but I was looking for something a little more tailored to wine connoisseurs.
These are simple little tags
not nearly as detailed and pretty as the Ballard ones-
but hey- they only took me about 15 minutes to make
and
I love how they turned out.
I started with a simple smooth pine board from the lumber section at Lowes
which I cut into little tag size bits of wood.
With a fine tip paint marker, I wrote a type of wine on each of them.
( you could use a sharpie or something along those lines as well I tried both and am showing both here
but preferred the paint marker to the permanent marker)
Zinfandel
Syrah
Pinot
Cabernet
Chardonnay
Sauvignon Blanc
Riesling
Chenin Blanc
etc.
You can also double up and write different ones on the backs~ flip the tags over to change
After the paint dried- I sanded down and rounded the edges
and then used a small drill bit to drill a hole in the center of the top.
A piece of jute or holiday ribbon if you like
and they are ready to place on a bottle of wine as a gift
I love this idea for a wine tasting party
where you could also use the chalkboard tags shown.
They are just a little larger and covered in chalkboard paint instead of being natural
Simply write 1, 2, 3 and cover the label and taste away.
Perfect for a holiday get together with friends.
That's it~
15 minutes to make the tags and a bottle of wine
15 minutes to make the tags and a bottle of wine
and you have a perfect gift for that
