Time for another edition of random Saturday
and this time, it is coming to you from New Orleans.
This week has been mostly about the south, southern style and beautiful architecture –
with a sprinkling of that bathroom renovation project mixed in.
#1. I have this thing for ferns…
I have noticed that I have a thing for ferns. Big, bushy, beautiful ferns.
I have had ferns at my house before-and actually have some going on the front porch but they don’t get anywhere near as beautiful as the ferns in the south. It must be the humidity that keeps them pretty and fresh all the time.
#2. In case you wondered- Tiling is for the birds
I am so over tiling.
My fingers and hands are over tiling.
Even my legs are over tiling.
The squatting up and down repeatedly was not fun for the knees
(though I will admit- a great workout)
But after 4 days of working almost non-stop- the tiling is DONE. It was literally wrapped just before heading out to New Orleans – which meant my work trip allowed a little bit of relaxation as well.
#3. I need a whole lot more brick in my life
With chipping plaster, beautiful blues and blacks and of course…
ferns.
Seriously.
How long do you think it would take me to brick the house? 😉
#4. Southern Style Now
I was in New Orleans for the first ever Southern Style Now Festival. It was an event put on by Robert Leleux the former editor of Domino Magazine and Traditional Home Magazine. It was filled with inspiration from decorating to panel discussions and key note speakers- and a beautiful showhouse as well.
I was invited to attend and be a part of the Bloggers Panel along with 5 talented bloggers –
Paloma (La Dolce Vita) Coco (Coco Cozy) Vicki (The Ace of Space)

Toma (The Antiques Diva) Jamie ( I Suwannee)

It was a fun panel discussion all about blogging, why we started, why we continue even as the social media landscape has changed and much more.
And that is it for this weeks random edition. Stay tuned for more of what inspired me in New Orleans coming your way- as well as that reader patio makeover with Lowe’s reveal and a summer home tour next week.
Happy weekend everyone!

The fountain in that first photo is gorgeous!
And kudos again on the tile.

Bigger pots grow bigger ferns! The pots they come in are usually root bound. Give them space to grow in a bigger pot and water daily.

NOLA is such a beautiful city.

I grew many ferns in my Northern Ca. Home. Yet here on the dry windy southern Ca. Desert it's not as hardy in growing, a lot more care is needed.
Love New Orleans and this fern photo is a popular landmark residence….as for you wanting or suggesting a bricked home or how long it would take you? I say start getting busy. I would love to live in an old brick home, inside and out…painting it white of course.
Enjoy your days ahead.
As for all that inspires me, in my etsy and IG. I inspired a Burlap Luxe art piece created in the likeness of the Nola Cemetaries…creative mausoleum / Tomb and now a French Santons cage doll in my latest blog spot and IG. This is how much New Orleans inspires art from me.
I could so live amoungest the fine art that is inspired from New Orleans and its authentic history.
Wonderful post.
