Yesterday a bit of a shuffle -shuffle happened in the house.
Ever get inspired to move things around to create a completely different look &
feeling in the house? Me too.
And today is all about ideas for hosting Easter at home and making it feel special-
by creating that feeling – and without leaving your house.
I decided it was time to spice things up a bit in the living room.
I have thought about doing this before- and well, it was just a thought.
But yesterday- lights, camera, action time folks.
So, I started moving things.
And then moved a few more things.
I moved things out of the room
and even out to the donate and re-home list.
My husband quickly retreated outdoors to get the small barn ready for chickens –
probably afraid that after 3 weeks of staying home together 24/7
– I just might move him out too. haha.
🙂
All kidding aside-
I have been hearing so many who are feeling really down about Easter coming up.
The weight of what is going on in the world right now is a pretty heavy feeling and knowing that Easter will look different since we aren’t gathering together has a lot of people questioning why even set a table or color eggs.
I feel it too -I do my best to spread joy and sprinkle everything with twinkle lights and ambiance- but am in the same boat right there with you.
And I hope that by sharing ideas – I can inspire you to find and create a little bit of your own beauty for your family for Easter and everyday- even though things are looking pretty different right now.
That business as usual feeling as much as we can do is important -especially for kids.
And so today it is all about creating an Easter gathering at home
that feels special…
Like one that we traveled over the river and through the woods and
went to moms or grandma’s house to celebrate.
Even though we really just traveled through the dining room
into the living room.
🙂
I wanted a change. I wanted something that felt different and interesting and started out by moving everything in the living room out.
I have always wanted to have a dining table in front a fireplace. Now is a perfect time to play with furniture and have some fun with layouts.
And so- voila.
So fun, right?
After the shuffle, I styled the table for an Easter gathering and used just what we have around the house and yard- like these camellia blooms.
I clipped these from the tree that I often use as a photography backdrop.
And because I love them even after they have fallen off the tree-
I grabbed a few handfuls of the camellia blooms and petals that were on the ground
for a special touch on the table.
For the place settings-
I brought out vintage stemware, gathered flatware and a set of modern farmhouse style dishes
and velvet napkins that I carry in my shop.
The glow from the candles, chandeliers and fireplace at evening is beyond beautiful.
And sitting by the warmth of the fire while enjoying our dinner last night was pretty perfect.
It really did feel like a completely different room
and space just by changing the location of the table.
If you don’t have a fireplace- I am always a fan of faux with using a fireplace mantel
a stack of logs and twinkles in the ‘firebox’
That is the current bedroom fireplace situation and it works beautifully for creating that ambiance.
Stay tuned for something special coming your way that has to do with this space
and come back for
a few No Shopping (other than your yard)
Easter centerpiece ideas.
What do you think of this ‘new’ dining room?
Who thinks I should just leave it this way for awhile?
🙂
Have a beautiful day and stay well everyone.

Love it positioned here in front of your fireplace! I just ordered some of your chair slips and now I just need the perfect chair for them! Loving yours here at your table. Have you shared the source for your chairs in the past? I don't recall and I love them!
