Welcome to the weekend view.
Travel dreaming… weddings and making plans… behind the scenes work and the little cottage.
This photo of Sweet Pea is about how I have been feeling lately.
I mentioned last week that my energy has been a bit zapped. And I know you are all right there with me on feeling out of sorts with the state of a lot of things currently. Last week, I had a tiny bit of a shift mentally with something so simple. It was just a conference call about planning something fun in 2021.
Calendars
Do you know why all of a sudden things felt so different? Because we were talking about the future. About getting together like we used to. About making plans and even if those plans have to change again- about figuring it out then but still putting it on the calendar now.
I think it is a sanity saver right now.
Because even though we have been thinking about dreaming about and making plans for things in the future when we can travel and do things again- we didn’t set any dates because things are so out of sorts currently. But with a conference date on the calendar already- it feels like it is really there.
Which made me think. With some of the other things I am working on – adding a date to the calendar just might shift the thinking on the goals. It doesn’t mean that things may have to be flexible- or that plans change- but it might make it a little more solid in your mind as you work towards them.
Little Cottage Work
We have been a tad crazy with work on the little cottage. Aye aye aye is about all I have to say about some of it- but the good news? Progress folks. So much progress on the grunt work- which means the fun work is inching closer day by day. We have a TON of projects out there on the to-do list- and
I have some special photography projects going on in the living room too (along with some special ‘temporary’ changes that I am kind of loving so they might stay awhile!) You will be seeing more on that and the elements that are knocking my socks off tomorrow.
Patio designs
One of the little cottage projects is finishing up some of the exterior overhaul and putting in a fresh look with a new private patio area.
We are planning on pea gravel and mostly natural landscape- and when I get a solid plan I will share all the details. For now- you can find 8 summer patio looks here if you are looking for some inspiration for your patio.
Wedding Planning
My daughter isn’t planning on getting married for another year or so- but we are already planning colors and ideas. We can’t help it! Our Pinterest board is already a hundred pins strong. haha.
She is going for a very non-traditional look- and though I would love blush and all those pretty colors I think are the dreamiest- I am loving the challenge of making her moody drama filled wedding perfect.
She is thinking a smaller wedding- they would rather have money to travel the U.S. for a month or so after the wedding than a huge amount of money spent on the day. I love that practical way of thinking and being able to give them a beautiful day along with a boost to help make their exploring travels happen.
Gearing up for holiday fun
I honestly cannot wait for holiday decorating, recipes and more. I think we all need a big boost of that holiday magic right now. I have some work on holiday decor to do in the next couple of weeks and I just might leave the tree up in the cottage when we are done.
Coming this week:
The first of a several part makeover in the little cottage -and the chandelier that inspired it.
A favorite on repeat beet salad- have I mentioned that I am obsessed with beets? So good.
And an inspired picnic setting breakdown and how to.
And a quick few minutes decorating tip to change the look and feel of something quickly.
And TODAY is the LAST DAY to ENTER the Balsam Hill Giveaway. It is over on INSTAGRAM on this Photo.
Happy weekend all.
