I love simple, natural and elegant looks for Christmas using fresh greens and fruit. From decorating shelves and cupboards to bowls of fruit on the counter and table- decorating with fruit and greens is a beautiful way to add a welcoming touch to your home this holiday season.
Here are 7 of my favorite ways to use fruit and greens in vignettes.
On the Porch
I love to use citrus and fresh eucalyptus and greens on the porch, There is something about this old fashioned charming look that is so welcoming and warm.
For a simple way to add the greens- you can use fresh garland wrapped around the top of the pots. I used fresh oranges piled up on top of the eucalyptus- you can use persimmons, pomegranate or tangerines- and fresh cedar or pine works beautifully as well.
In the Kitchen
A wee tree or a large tree- either one looks absolutely beautiful with citrus slices added to it. They are easy to make and dry on your own or you can buy a bag full of already dried slices as well.
Tip: Dried citrus slices are perfect for adding to a tree, garland or just about anywhere- I also love them scattered on the tabletop.
In a Bowl
Simple and sweet- there is just something about a bowl of fruit as decor that really makes a room feel welcoming. Think pears, oranges, pomegranate or persimmons for the holidays for a festive and delicious look.
Tip: Bowls are perfect for filling with fresh fruit. Think transfer ware, rustic wood or simple ironstone for a simple farmhouse style touch- and copper for a bit of glam.
In the Cupboard
Open up those cupboard doors and add a layer of fresh greens and fruit for decoration. My favorites are pears and tangerines with cedar, juniper and eucalyptus but you can use whatever fruit & greens you like.
Tip: Add some interest and height by placing the fruit inside cups or on top of a stack of plates.
Scatter on the table
Adding a bit of fruit to your mantel or table is so easy for creating a custom elegant look. For this table in my book Inspired Gatherings it was all about those peaches and figs. Their rosy tone brought warmth and charm to this table.
Tip: Add fruit to already made garland for a custom look on the mantel or table.
Create a charming wreath
Creating a beautiful wreath for a door, mantel or wall is a fun project – and it is so easy. This one was made with dried orange slices, white berries and fresh clipped pine branches.
I hope this inspires you to use natural Christmas touches in your home this season.
