Simple and sweet and a beautiful way to give a gift. Packages that are pretty are like the icing on a cake. And today I am sharing a few pretty packages and beautiful gift wrap ideas- including some that don’t even involve traditional rolls of gift wrap paper.
Beautiful Gift Wrap Ideas
From stacks of boxes tied with ribbons to textured paper – I love beautiful creating beautiful gifts to place under the tree. A twinkling tree dotted with pretty baubles is often the only thing that people think of when decorating. But I am a big believer in decorating beautifully under the tree as well.
Hat Boxes
My Favorite this year- these charming hatboxes. I love how they look layered under the tree- and so perfect for tucking a gift into. I also love that these boxes are kind of like a gift as well- they can be taken home and used for storing, for display or even for placing a beautiful bouquet of flowers into.
Plain Foldable Boxes
These are economical and super easy to put together. They are not as sturdy as the other boxes with lids on them-but if you need a whole bunch of boxes- the way to go- and they mix and mingle with the other boxes so easily.
I bought several packages and sizes of these and have used them under several trees this year.
Wallpaper
I know, a crazy idea right? Wallpaper is thick and not as easy to work with for wrapping gifts of course- but it looks absolutely charming and creates a unique look.
Masking Paper
I shared this idea last year and it is a favorite again this year. I am also wrapping signed books that are purchased from the shop in this pretty paper too. I love these packages tied with blush satin ribbon.
Butcher Paper
Colorful pink and red butcher paper is another way to use economical paper for wrapping presents. And it is so pretty. To play up the more rustic feeling of this paper, I tied them with twine instead of ribbon.
Plain White Boxes
So easy- I love to use stacks of plain white boxes under the tree. Other than being super easy – the bonus with these is that you can use them under every tree and customize the ribbon color to change the look.
Mix and Mingle
These simple brown paper boxes and hatboxes are simple and sweet and mix perfectly with foil accented papers.
Merry & Festive Reds
There is something about bold and beautiful red under the tree- this is a simple striped paper- but I love how it looks.
Tied up with Love
However you wrap them up- when it comes to adding a pretty touch to your presents- there are so many beautiful possibilities. My favorites this year are velvet and satin ribbons- but you can use twine, baking twine, frayed linen ribbons, crochet ribbons- I could on and on. Simply choose which one speaks to you the most.

It’s just the two of us, so we don’t do gifts under our tree. Several years ago I purchased the Sugar paper brown craft boxes with gold edges, tied them with tartan ribbon, and placed them under our tree. Add in a few gifts given us, and it all looks festive. Then I use the Sugar paper boxes to store ornaments. It’s a win/win!
