I am all about those five minute decor projects- like a five minute spring mantel. Or a five minute room refresh. I love something that is a bite sized decorating project that you can do quickly and easily in between the busy projects of the day. And with all the extra valentines day flowers marked at half price in the grocery store right now- it is a perfect time for creating a beautiful flower filled mantel and sharing 5 minute decorating ideas.
5 Minute spring Mantel Decor
Simple and sweet decor using just a few things and in just a few minutes. Today the inspiration is all from flowers.
#1. Stack up a Few Books
I am a huge fan of using vintage books in decor- and on the mantel is a favorite way to enjoy them. Simply stack a few in different heights to create interest and also to create a place to set your flowers at different heights. One of my preferences is to face the pages out – I love the ruffly paper look. If you don’t have vintage books- you can wrap new books with parchment paper for a more vintage and neutral look.
#2. Use small jars
Rather than a large bouquet- use small jars to create ‘micro-moments’ with your flowers. You
#3. Use Several Bottles & Sizes
#4. Use Flowers That Dry Well
A simple tip when using flowers on the mantel is to use flowers that dry well. This allows you to lay the flowers on the mantel, tuck them into garland and place them into jars that don’t hold water. And it also allows you to enjoy them much longer than a traditional flower that will wilt. These are Larkspur – some of my favorites for drying.
#5. Use Potted Plants in buckets
This is such a simple and easy way to decorate the mantel in a snap. Use those hanging flower baskets that are overflowing with beautiful blooms. Simply remove the hangers and place the pot of flowers right into a bucket or container that will hold it. I have done this on the mantel outside and also brought those plants inside to enjoy on the table. If bringing indoors- just remember they do need to be watered and get sunshine in order to thrive.
You can also use faux plants in this same way for no fuss decor.
