We were married 3 1/2 weeks when he had to leave for Viet Nam. He was member of Jolly Green squadron, helicopter rescue and recovery which were trained to go over DMZ to rescue pilots/crew who had been shot down. I was so grateful to have him come back to his family.
Can only imagine how devastated families and spouses of people who didn't make it back. That goes for all our service people in all wars, they gave the ultimate sacrifice. They deserve to be appreciated and remembered every day.
Love your flag dresser, so wonderful, did great job. Think will be looking for small piece to do this on. Two years ago I made a flag with pallet boards then used a flag to make sure it was authentic, is still hanging on our front porch railings, holding up very well.
Don't want to forget how fortunate we were to get husband/Dad back.

I am thinking about the Knights of Columbus, decked out in their uniforms and fancy feathered hats, carrying swords, who will perform a ceremony today at the cemetery where my parents were recently buried. I wish I could be there, though even more, I wish I could be with them again.
