Vintage Cyrus Clark Floral Chintz Chair
Sometimes you find something that just plain talks to you. And in vintage floral chintz nonetheless. Today sharing a peek at a new to me treasure that I couldn’t leave behind – to be honest, I had no idea where it would land in our home but it wouldn’t stop talking to me. I often bring home chairs or other pieces for a specific photo or styling for a photography job-so it is not unusual that I don’t always know where things will go. Sometimes they land here for a bit, are in a photo project and stay- or go to a new home. This one will be in a photograph project- but after that- at this point, I have no idea where it might end up. Sharing some quick phone snaps today.

Vintage Floral Chintz
How I love a vintage floral chintz! I grab remnants of floral chintz fabric at the thrifts all the time- I just plain adore it. And stacks of it? Even better. This fabric was by far one of the most colorful I have collected- and on a chair? Oh my! I will be honest, at first I thought it might be too colorful but I knew it was something special.

When it first arrived home, I took a video to show my mom and these snaps are from that video. We always do a bit of cleaning before bringing vintage upholstered furniture inside- and so, it was out in front of the porch just waiting for that when I snapped a few peeks.
The Details
From the charming wing back style to the wood legs and vintage upholstery. Such a sweet one! I found this on Marketplace (surprise!) and my husband picked it up for me. It was actually a seller who I had bought from before- he buys leftovers from yard sales, storage unit close outs, etc. and resells on marketplace. He held the chair for us until my husband could get there – so I actually didn’t see it in person until it arrived home.

It has simple wood legs with stretchers and a lovely little bit of wear that adds to the charm. The upholstery is in excellent condition. There are a couple small spots but overall clean and looks like it was hardly used. The seller told us that the chair was wrapped in plastic in storage when he got a hold of it- and it appears that helped keep it in clean condition.

Floral Chintz Fabric
Delightful is a great way to describe this fabric- but other than it being vintage floral chintz, I didn’t know much about it. But, I had a simple way to figure it out. I took a close up photo of the pattern and did a google image search. Before I knew it, the exact manufacturer, name of the pattern and age popped up. At least according to the internet- this is a Cyrus Clark Wisteria pattern from the 1980’s apparently.
You might remember a couple other floral pieces I brought home- the pair of chairs in our bedroom

and the pair of vintage floral chintz covered settees that appeared in my book IN BLOOM – I know I haven’t done a proper post on those darlings just yet so stay tuned for a closer look.

As for this new chair- I am quite obsessed with it. But I don’t know just where it will land yet. It is currently in my office as my desk chair but I am dreaming up some ideas and will share more once I get things restyled and it finds a pretty little spot.
Where would you put a chair like this one? Or is it too colorful for you and so, you would leave it for someone else to enjoy?
im downsizing and loving it!
we went to England for a month and it is less than more over there. I fell in love with the less is more.
beautiful chair but I would pass unless I replaced it with an existing chair. in one out one. enjoy though!
I have spent time in England too and never ran into “the less is More”. trend. I saw all of those lovely english homes full of inherited and acquired beauties. I think you can never have enough of things you love for your home I would have brought the chair home also!
Oh mu Lord, she’s a stunner! I don’t have a single room it would fit with but that wouldn’t have stopped me! CONGRATS on A real score!

I LOVE this! I’ve admired this fabric over yhe years and regret not purchasing some. I see this chair in a cozy sun porch with lots of plant or a breakfast nook for a cuppa.
I kove yhe chair…no hesitation on my part.
I have a chair in a similar pttern but with blue background and more light blue flowers. It is an antique with queen ann legs and had the original horse hair seat cushion when i got it and had it recovered. It is in my living room and can go anywHere in my house. Found a foot stool later on and covered it to match.
I love a wingback chair! that might be my favorite Chintz flower design. funny you said it was in your office. that’s exactly where a
l pictured it, but not for a desk chair. I would style it in the perfect corner or wall. then I could smile every time I looked at it!
Pretty! I had a set of wingback chairs almost identical to yours. Over the years i had them reupholstered 3 times. Finally let one of our children use them at their rented home while in college. Don’t know where they ended up!
Another score! It is so beautiful! I have this picture in my head of all your chairs stacked like jenga…lol. You go girl!
I would love that chair….it is so beautiful and would look so lovely in my living room. If you decide to part with it, let me know.
