I mean, when you see the details on these thrifted treasures… is ‘need’ even a question?
I bumped into a listing for rosy mauve velvet perfection recently. Carvings galore. Tufted backs. Dainty French details. And that color… dreamy. Of course, I had to click on the listing to see more- how could I not?
Even though truth be told, I was already getting on the road to pick up a set of crazy beautiful antique French chairs ( I will share soon) rose velvet anything was not in the ‘think about it’ category. Even my husband said ‘message them’ when I showed him the listing.

Vintage Rose Velvet Chairs
I am always working on things aside from what you see online. And one of them is partnering in a venue and retreat that involves rentals for event and photography. Of course, you know how much I love photographing vintage chairs -so also doing the photography for the business is a bonus.
And a rose velvet chair is always a good thing. And if there are a pair of them? Even better.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Well, it is only the GOOD since pretty much everything about these is good. They are beautiful, the perfect dainty yet roomy (I know that sounds weird) size. The perfect color in a rich rosy mauve velvet. They are covered in carvings and character. And in wonderful condition.

The Odd
No BAD here- but some might say something along the lines of ‘the odd’ would be the carved griffons(?) and birds(?) maybe- but not really. I have seen furniture with carvings similar before and honestly, they are interesting and look to be more a part of the frame rather than standing out as ‘creatures’.

That said – if you have any info on these types of carvings and furniture- would love you to chime in below.

The Beauty
Because there is no ‘The Ugly’ with these! I knew immediately for photography they were golden. For event and wedding rentals- golden. For simply enjoying- bring them home. They are unique and beautiful and so elegant.

Because they are in such great shape, I am guessing they were reupholstered along the way sometime- and the seat cushion is a bit of a different style than you might originally find with a vintage chair like this one. But I think the pristine velvet upholstery makes them even more perfect for the rental business.

And so, the answer to that question above is yes indeed, I did need another pair of vintage chairs and these came home with me.
What do you think of these? Would you have brought them home with you too?
Happy Wednesday friends.
Not a question in my mind….especially perfect with the heart shaped back! Great score! Best of luck with the wedding venture! I’m a retired freelance wedding florist….such a beautiful and meaningful experience to be involved with. Blessings, Allison
They are such lovely details! I saw someone mentioned they had a ‘butterfly’ shape back as well- I think that is a lovely way to describe them also. I bet working freelance as a wedding florist was such fun! If you have any tips- would love them! ❤️
MARK IT SOLD, ITS GOING HOME!!
Yes!❤️
I wouldn’t be able to pick them up fast enough!! Beauties
Same! We actually messaged about them and picked them up that evening haha.
I am in the process of restoring my home that was damaged in a fire in malibu. i lived in paris for years and i’ve been to many other places in france, so i made the style of my home french country – and i’ve been researching everything in order to have the most authentic pieces – from a cornufe stove to reclaimed french FLOOR tile from provence. SO I LOOK AT YOUR EMAILS WITH GREAT EXPECTATIONS, BUT IT IS DISAPPOINTING WHEN WHAT YOU TALK ABOUT ARE THINGS LIKE THESE CHAIRS WHICH ARE NOT FOR SALE, oR WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT YOURSELF WITH little benefit TO OTHER FRANCOPHILES. PLUS YOUR EMAILS ARE FILLED WITH ADS AND THINGS YOU MAKE MONEY ON. IT DOESN’T FEEL LIKE YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR READERS AND IT’S FRUSTRATING. i keep hoping i will find a treasure in one of your emails so i haven’t unsubscribed.
Hi Carole, I am sorry to hear about your home being damaged in the fires- I know that must be so difficult to be starting over from scratch to restore what was damaged.
I am also sorry to hear that you are frustrated with reading here.
While I love all things French and European inspired- I have not sold vintage furniture here on the blog- I only write about them to share the treasures when I find them. I think that the thrill of the hunt and scoring a treasure is something we all seem to love! I can understand if you would like a source to purchase things as well- I always suggest checking FB Marketplace in your area to see if you can find something similar.
As far as ads, there should not be any ads included inside the emails that are sent out- but I do have ads running here because blogging is one of the ways I am able to work to help support our family.
If you would prefer to read the blog without any ads- I recently shared a substack blog where you can read each blog post without any ads- that might be something you would enjoy better. It is something I started as an option for my readers who were not happy reading with the ads here and it does have a small fee (about the price of a coffee) to read ad free each month. You can find more info about that option here: https://frenchcountrycottage.substack.com
As always, I appreciate you taking the time to read and leave a note!
They are fabulous!
I was so surprised to find them and in such great condition! ❤️
Beautiful Chairs!!!!
I wouldn’t
BE able to wait to get them!!!!
Love your Posts!!!
ENJOY YOUR CHAIRS!!!
Thank you! They really are such treasures!❤️
I am sorry that one of your readers is upset because she cannot purchase any furniture on your website, You have never advertised yourself as such. It is up to you to try to find these things for yourself. personally I do not understand the people who are upset about “ads” as I never have even noticed them. i have purchased several things, tablecloths, bags and chair covers from you and I am very happy to have such a great blog to read. And it is pretty mean to say you do not care about your readers. It seems like her fire has caused her to be so undeservedly rude, green -eyed dragon coming out. You gave her a very lovely answer, and not in the spirit with which she phrased her complaint. Kudos to you.
They are beautiful they would totally work for me.
I just click on Reader View. Easy to read then if I really want to get into it.
BEautiful chairs and the color of the velvet is so, so pretty! Great find.
Beautiful! There must be a lot of people in your area going modern to get rid of furniture you have been purchasing. Good for you.
My aunt has a set: one sofa and two armchairs. But they were more like a old red rose color and lately she changed to like a copper color…
