Sugar Sprinkled Lemon Snowflakes

A delicious buttery recipe with a bit of lemon zest and sugar sprinkles

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup Butter - Softened
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Tsp Grated Lemon Peel- or to taste
  • 1 egg Egg or Egg replacement product equivalent
  • 2 1/4 cups All purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Lemon Glaze

  • 2 cupa Powdered Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Lemon Juice- fresh squeezed
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 1 bottle Sugar Sprinkles- Coarse

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    Beat butter and granulated sugar together with mixer until fluffy. Add freshly grated lemon peel and egg and beat until well blended. Gradually beat in flour and salt until blended.
  • Flour your surface and place your dough on top and roll until about 1/8 inch thick. Cut with several sizes of snowflake shaped cookie cutters. Place on baking paper on cookie sheets and bake for 8 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Cool before glazing.
  • While cookies cool- mix powdered sugar, lemon juice and water in a mixer. Using small metal spatula, spread glaze on tops of cookies and sprinkle with sparkling sugar before glaze dries.
