Yep, it’s definitely feeling a bit ‘Fall-ish’ over here.
There is a chill in the morning air, sweaters making appearances
and I even put a pair of gloves on for my morning walk the other day
But even with the chilly start to the day,
the sunshine comes out by mid morning to warm everything up
and the Fall afternoons and evenings are absolutely amazing
I have been doing a bit of decorating over here for the season-
as well as working on a few other things.
For our Lowes Creator project this month-
it’s a Fall mantel makeover going on over here.
Pretty much the minute I walked into Lowes and saw these gorgeous Cinderella pumpkins in
their outdoor pumpkin patch- I was picking them up and placing them in my cart.
Here is the mantel as it was dressed this Summer
I started by cleaning it up a bit and since I didn’t want to paint that gorgeous dark wood
but it needed a bit of refreshing- I rubbed it lightly with a dark wax stain
to fill in the nicks in the finish that were showing~ simple and easy fix.
The mirror was replaced with a chalkboard that I made out of a vintage frame
and a piece of wood painted with chalkboard paint.
A few super large pinecones (about 20″) were placed into the ‘fireplace’ and
then it was pumpkin time
I picked up 5 large Cinderella pumpkins- in greens, whites and this gorgeous muted orange
a few smaller white pumpkins
a few smaller white pumpkins
a bag of gourds
I also brought in a few drying roses and greens from the yard to use as well.

I love Cinderella pumpkins with all their chalky greens, grays, creamy whites and pale orange colors.
Mixed with a few of the little white pumpkins and a bag of gourds- also from Lowes
they were the perfect pumpkins to give the cottage fireplace a fresh Fall look.
The gourds and small pumpkins were tucked into the bookshelves here and there
This year my daughter is inviting a few friends over for a
Halloween party- so there will be a bit more creepiness going on with the decor in the coming weeks
and this mantel will easily transition to Halloween with just a couple changes
which- yep, I got at Lowes too… I’ll share it soon.
For now,
I am loving the simple charm of how it turned out.

Nicely and simply done, Courtney! That is such a beautiful mantel. I wouldn't be able to paint it either. The wood tone just goes so beautifully with Fall and makes a great anchor to the room.

I was thinking about natural decor the other day and was needing some inspiration…and knew the perfect place to find it-right here!! I wish I had some dried roses, but I will hopefully find something that is similar feeling. Anyhow, LOVE all your fall and look forward to the Halloween decor!
