The other day I blogged about the unbelievable swedish style painted furniture that I found. Just an AMAZING set!! You can find the post here.
I mentioned that there was a little chair and broken settee that I didn’t picture.
Well, here they are!
They are different- maybe even a bit odd?
I don’t know.
I am not sure what to make of them. I have not seen anything like them before.
I am wondering if any of you out in blog land know anything about these chairs- age, style, etc…
~
Here’s a bit about them:
–They are short- pretty low to the ground. The lady selling them said they were called childrens chairs and they were in her bedroom growing up.
– Lots of carvings and details on the legs, apron, arms and back.
–The settee is broken- the back is broken off and the chair has been repaired. Both can be fixed, but will probably need to be painted
They seem to be antique- I have lots of books on antiques and styles but these kind of stump me. I don’t know what style, age. etc to put them in.
The stuffing is old- but the upholstery matches the upholstery on the other furniture
Anyway, I am really without inspiration on these at this point.
They came with the set of Swedish stuff I bought- which I LOVE- and it was all the pieces or nothing, so I was not particularly drawn to them, but ended up with them anyway.
I figure with all those carved details, they would probably look amazing painted and re-upholstered, though.
Thoughts?
Ideas?

Hey girl..those are not children pices at all…they are from ca. 1880 and the reason they are so low is beacuse of women that wore hoop skirts and so when they sat down they skirts would not fly up alos it was easier on them to get up and down with…I love these pieces girl..Also I see your from Calif as I am…not many of us blogging from there ha ha!! I'm so glad you became a follower my new found friend..am looking forward to getting to know you better hey!! us Calif gals have to stick together..Do you mind if I do a quick post on you to let people know about your blog…Let me know girl…Hope you have a GREAT day on your piece of Ca. These are great pieces. Such details! Are they uncomfortably low to sit on? You got such a great deal on the whole bunch of furniture.

Found you through Gloria's blog. You have found some wonderful pieces. Wish I could find that type of furniture here in the south – but when you do find something truly great, they want a fortune for it. You have a great eye, can't wait to see what you are going to do with those beautiful pieces. (I am also a Leo).
Hope you have a chance to stop by sometimes, would love to have you visit.
