I sing along while dressing the mirrors
laying greens atop the mantels and adding just a touch of the Season here and there
and made just a few changes.
One of them was that I used boxwood instead of pine and cedar.
Turns out cedar tends to bother my allergies. A lot.
So instead of spending the season sniffly, sneezing and itching
I was planning to go with faux in the bedroom but then I found a
gorgeous gorgeous fresh boxwood garland.

I was in love.
I knew it was perfect and haven't sneezed from boxwood yet ;)
Pretty silver letters from HomeGoods spell out Merry Christmas on the shelf
They are much smaller than the large NOEL letters I had here last year
They are much smaller than the large NOEL letters I had here last year
but I love how they look.
Do you also notice that striped something at the foot of the bed?
Yes, it is the faux grainsack tablecloth I made.
I saw a vintage striped wool blanket used at the foot of the bed in a magazine
and just loved the look.
I decided to use a different mirror for the fireplace.
I change it all the time and this time I was thinking big brassy old gold
Even though I probably have about 25 vintage mirrors
not one of them was the right size or color.

Except- the one in the bathroom.
Keeping with natural and more simple decoration this year
a garland of boxwood dotted with gypsophila, pinecones, red berries (hard to see)
and a boxwood wreath bring the natural while a collection of
chunky white candles and paperwhites bring the ambiance.

The flocked tree in the bedroom is my favorite tree
and it is absolutely glowing this year with added strands of lights.

which is pretty much the only kind of snow that I like.
;)
The decorations on the tree are very simple- just whites and silvers
I just adore it with nothing but the lights on it.
In the master bathroom
a large carved frame with a fresh evergreen wreath from Lowes sits on the shelf above the tub
where that big mirror used to be.

I love the green wreath and gold frame against the red toile wallpaper.
I tend to like to incorporate Christmas touches into existing
rather than changing everything- plus it's less work when you switch everything back.
I am behind on getting some of the decor shared but I will share a few other vignettes along with some
snippets of things I didn't get posted in a holiday house tour recap coming up...
at some point! lol! ;)

ReplyDeleteWhat wallpaper is that in the bathroom picture? I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a floral toile wallpaper I picked up at Lowes probably 5 years ago. I don't know the name of the pattern- sorry.

Merry Christmas Courtney! And your house looks gorgeous in print! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou have worked your magic touch again, Courtney! I just love how pretty everything looks, especially the boxwood accents. We have tons of the hedges at the lakehouse, which is year round, but unfortunately, we haven't been there since September. I wonder if the stems would survive in water. Anyway...gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane

ReplyDeleteCourtney, it is all so beautiful! I would love to come walk through your house and take it all in! I love boxwood and usually use lots of it. I have a friend who usually supplies me with plenty of it but she is living in Haiti for 2 years so I used fresh holly from my Grandma's bushes this year! I also wanted to say that your photos are so lovely - you do a wonderful job with your photography!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Courtney. This is my favorite room in your home.

What a gorgeous haven, Courtney. I love it all, but the garland on the headboard is probably my favorite touch.

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and romantic! Merry Christmas, Courtney!
ReplyDeleteYou inspired me last year to really decorate our master bedroom for the holidays. I added new white ruched bedding, gorgeous white throw pillows, touches of silver, a fresh pine wreath over the bed, and garland draped the windows. It was like sleeping in a fairy land...until..I awoke to the most horrible chemical smell ever. Seems the wreath had been treated with some sort of preservative! As it began to dry a bit the smell was released. This year I used faux..Maybe I'll make my own fresh wreath next year. The boxwood is lovely! Thanks so much for sharing your home with us!
ReplyDeleteCourtney, your bedroom is more beautiful than last year...and I can hardly believe that! Your bedding is beautiful, loving the mirror in it's new spot and the decor surrounding it! I have one very similar all wrapped up in the basement, you have inspired me to get it out and up! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home!
ReplyDeleteHoliday Hugs,
Pendra

EVERYTHING!!! is simply beautiful! How I would love to live in an area where evergreens were so abundant; but the boxwood looks very much like rosemary...and I have two large bushes in my garden which I have used before for wreaths! Can't wait for your next post.
