Something that is rusty, crusty covered in bling
and absolute goodness?
and absolute goodness?
Well, that is sometimes
just exactly what you need to mix things up a bit.
just exactly what you need to mix things up a bit.
In my opinion,
the best mixes are the ones where there is something that doesn’t go with the other.
But yet, it does.
Like putting something refined and elegant
with something that is just a little rough around the edges.
Like serving rich decadent truffles on an old weathered cutting board
instead of a gold rimmed platter.
It isn’t what goes together and is expected- it is what doesn’t that makes it special.
It is a perfect juxtaposition.
This chandelier is kind of like that.
Weathered, matte gray and so much old charm and patina
it was a major score and found someplace you probably wouldn’t expect.
At HomeGoods.
Yes, seriously. You can pretty much find anything at HomeGoods.
Yes, seriously. You can pretty much find anything at HomeGoods.
I think if you look long enough you could even find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
or Prince Charming hidden somewhere in the kitchen section. (of course!)
This chandelier was found a few years ago
in the garden section and it was already wired to be used outdoors.
So off it went in the open pergola area where it was enjoyed for several years
and where it weathered away in the rain
and picked up the most gorgeous rusty patina and chippy paint.
But you know how it goes.
The wind blows and rustle the leaves on the trees and start the wheel in motion for changes.
So while sprucing up the covered patio
I looked over at that rusty, crusty chandelier and knew it would perfect.
So over to the covered patio it went- and about 10 minutes later
this beauty was in place hanging in front of that rock fireplace.
But I noticed that something was missing
It needed a bit of bling to bring just a little touch of drama and elegance
A few strands of crystals later
and it was perfect.
Like faded blue jeans and pearls
a weathered tabletop with gilded china
your carved dining chairs with the old table outdoors
and these fresh cut lilacs and blue & white pottery.
Totally in love with them.
I know, I am sharing just the chandelier and a peek at of the patio for now –
I can’t show you the rest just yet.
But since the winds are blowing away over here- there are a few more changes coming.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend.
Happy Monday!

❀ Gros bisous ❀

Your chandelier is so cool–it made me run to the garage to look at the one I have again (waiting to get hung) to see how similar they are! I should shoot you a picture of mine -found in a flea market–but just a bit more sunflower-like!
I still want your outdoor fireplace–maybe this summer! ; D

I can't wait to see how you've finished the patio because so far it is gorgeous! I slap my forehead at my lack of foresight! I've given away so many nice objects that now would be a treasure. That's why you do what you do so well and well — I don't 🙁 . Have a tremendous Tuesday!!
