It has been a busy weekend- cleaning and projects and running around…
The boys and I worked for half the day yesterday on the kitchen projects and basically
made a big mess and more work than when we started…
ahhh, such is life before a party!
Anyway, busy work has started on the backyard as well.
The mowing, the trimming, etc.
Though we are working on finishing things up, I wanted to share a few elements that will be put in play for the party next Sunday.
First off, the pergola has gotten breezy, white drapes!! I have thought about putting curtains or drapes or something up for awhile but after seeing Susan’s drapes up on her porch over at Between Naps on the Porch,
I had to do it and I LOVE it!!!!!!
Thanks for the inspiration Susan!
It really frames in the pergola and makes it feel so much more like an outdoor room.
I also added some fabric panels to the top- not happy at all with how that came out!
But last time , there was too much sun in the backyard and everyone was too hot.
So I thought a bit of shade would help,
but I am going to try to re-do that .
I am planning on using my seashell lights & placing the candles in the glass jars in the garden for some charm.
My lion fountain is not running right now (that’s why there’s a geranium there!)
but the other fountain will be trickling and we’ll have some music on as well.
I also have some tall torch lights for anyone who decides to stay later-
we can light up the backyard
The chandelier above the large table in the pergola lights up the space wonderfully.
It’s an outside chandelier- super heavy and large.
Found this at Home Goods a few years ago and just loved the aged finish on it.
It is perfect for this outdoor room.
I’m going to be breaking out my entertaining books tonight for some inspiration for food and table setting.
Once the backyard is set up all the way~
food, decor, tablescape etc.
I will be sure to take a few pics to share.
Hope you all had a great weekend!

I am interested in your pergola. I want to make a partial one coming off of the house…did you make that or buy it ready made. Can you tell me what it is made out of? I love the idea of the sheers making it more of a room environment. What did you use for the panels? They look like tulle..I think the chandy is very neat. did you run electicity out there or just a cord and hide it in the perfola rafters? I have to know!! *pergola obsession*

Thank you for your sweet comments over at my home!
What a lovely yard! So elegant!
I think the white "roof" panels are lovely the way they are–soft, breezy!
What time is the party?!?!? 😉
I like serving antipasto and bruschetta for vegetarian fare.
Cannot wait to see what happens at "THE PARTY"!!

Happy WW! I'm showing these photos of your awesome pergola to my hubby. I've been whining about one of those over our very hot deck for 2 years now. Maybe now he'll be inspired… lol! Beautiful – just beautiful! Have fun at your party!

Oh, the curtains and chandelier and fountain are all so quintessentially romantic European garden, or at least what I dream of when I think of that! Love, love… I also peaked down at your kitchen project, and I'll definitely be stopping by again to see what you're up to there! (I love those inspiration photos, now I want to add detailing to my cupboard doors!)
Thanks for stopping by my place!
