Feathered Nest Friday

Welcome to Feathered Nest Friday!
I can hardly believe that it is New Years Eve-and that tomorrow-
we will be kicking off 2016!
It has been a great year of inspiration here at Feathered Nest Friday!

Here is what I shared this week:

Hammock in trees

A few of your favorite posts of 2015

Can you believe we are just a few hours away from
a new year and fresh start?

New Years Eve inspires you to pause a moment
and look back and reflect on the year that was
and to look forward to the fresh year of new possibilities that is just around the corner.

New Years Eve Table Setting

I grew up in a family that welcomed the New Year
in full party mode...

Easy Entertaining~ Baked Brie

I apologize in advance to anyone who will not be able to stop eating this appetizer.
It really is with the best intentions that I share
this amazing deliciousness with you.

It is easy to make.
Gorgeous for presentation
and can we talk about how it tastes?

Simple Elegance~ New Years Eve Drink & Treat Station

Can you believe that it is almost time
to ring in the new year?

New Years Eve party ideas- gold glasses, cake, peonies

I am shaking my head over here
because I have no idea how 2015 has zoomed
by as quickly as it has.

Random Weekend

Happy weekend after Christmas.

This weekend it is all about taking a breather from the busy.
From the shopping and the wrapping and the entertaining
to the sleeping in and being a tad bit lazy for just a bit.

Reflecting & Design Bloggers Conference

Remember how  I recently shared that I tend to reflect
a bit during December?
I do.

Merry Christmas

The stockings are hung by the fire
The trees are twinkling
The cookies are baked
the presents are *almost all wrapped

and the house is full of big kids again.

Feathered Nest Friday

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

I was writing my Christmas Eve post - and realized it is Thursday.
As in yesterday was Wednesday and tomorrow is Christmas.
I almost forgot all about FNF- but thought I would put it up for anyone who wants to join in and share or just peruse the inspiration over the weekend.
Never too early to start pinning for next years decor right?

Here is what I shared this week:

One of my favorites...

3 Easy Christmas table ideas

Are you ready for Christmas yet?
Done decking the halls, wrapped up all your shopping
and baked everything needing to be baked?
Not moi.

The year the metal band played Christmas

Back in the day,
which I think was on a Saturday...
there was a concert in a bar.

Christmas bed with presents

It was December and it was cold and rainy outside
but inside an old crusty bar  in a not so great part of town-
it felt like the heater was on full blast.

Evening view~ Christmas lights

Christmas tree, candles on bench

One of the most merry things about Christmas in the house
is the abundance of twinkling lights that seem to make every room feel
so much more magical.

Random Saturday

A Random Saturday post
on the Saturday before Christmas.

There is definitely a whole lot of running around,
rocking around the Christmas tree,
cooking, cleaning
and yes, even some last minute shopping and decorating
going on over here yet.

What about you?

A few of my favorite things

Did you know that when I was a teenager that
there was a bit of time when Julie Andrews and I were BFF's?

Christmas stocking on antique buffet deux corps

As in, every weekend, I put on comfy pajama pants
and warm slippers and snuggled in for an evening of
'The Sound of Music'

Another busy week over here and can you believe that Christmas is NEXT week?
Where has December gone already?

High Point Market and inspirations for gifts

With Christmas almost here-
I think it is safe to say that shopping for gifts has started to turn into a bit of a frenzy
 if you are like me...
and are not quite yet all wrapped up
in that department.

Simple Christmas Bedroom

Along with twinkling  trees
beautifully wrapped gifts
classic Christmas sweaters
and pounds of holiday cookies and fudge...

Cottage Christmas patio & early mornings

The other day I woke up to the sound of my grand dog
running down the hall.
His little feet pounded the hardwood floor
right past the kitchen
into the living room
and over to the fireplace

where he stopped abruptly.

Random Saturday

Can you believe that it is less than 2 weeks until Christmas?
I am always amazed at how the holiday season seems to just zoom by
 once December 1st rolls around.

It has been a wonderful, busy season over here
and a busy week for sure.

Romantic Holiday Table setting

Sometimes you just need a little 'twist' on traditional.
Like a romantic jewel toned Christmas.

Gold, purple, peonies and Christmas table

I am all about styling something with a little bit of a twist
on traditional for Christmas.
And today- it is all about gorgeous plums, pops of pinks and fuchsia
and glistening golds.

5 minute Hydrangea & Eucalyptus Christmas Mantel

A Christmas mantel
that is elegant & charming
and can be put together in 5 minutes?
Does it even exist?

Christmas Mantel French Hydrangeas eucalyptus

Yes, it does.

Glistening white, brassy golds, blush
and
Christmas?

Yes, please.

Simple Christmas ~ Using fresh fruit in holiday vignettes

Did I mention that I am obsessed with fresh natural touches
for Christmas?

Pomegranates, pears, nuts and apples & oranges and wee little tangerines
with leaves attached- I love them all.
And I love to include them in holiday vignettes.

Vintage ornaments, books & other randomness

I realized the other day
that I have not done a Random Saturday post in a few weeks
So you know what that means.
It is time for a quick mish mash of randomness catch up.

This week, it is all about things like trees, books, leaves, ornaments
tables and much more.

Flower Friday~ DIY Fresh garland

It is no secret that I have a major love of all things fresh when it comes to flowers.
And that love goes right on over to the fresh greenery for Christmas.

I am one of those
give me yards of fresh garland and a dozen wreaths
type of girls.

Feathered Nest Friday

Welcome to Feathered Nest Friday!
Can you believe it is the first week of December already? Seriously.
November just zoomed by-
I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Here is what I shared this week~

Home for the Holidays- 4 ideas for simple front door decorating

Did you know that when I first looked at our house
I stood at the top of the front steps and paused?

Christmas Front Door Holiday Home Oranges Lanterns Garland

It wasn't in anticipation of what was inside
or the excitement of touring a 1940's house.
It was because there were 2 front doors right across from each other.
One where the door is now- and one on that wall right next to it.
It was an entrance that left you saying 'hmm' as you pondered.
Left or right?
This door or that door?
Are these doors supposed to be some type of fancy 1940's double door
that isn't really a double door?

French Country Cottage Christmas Home Tour

I am so excited to share a peek at our home dressed for Christmas this year.
I feel like I loaded 347 photos already this morning to this post.

French Country Cottage Christmas Home Holiday Decorating

And that doesn't include about 3 dozen others that aren't yet edited.
Or the rooms I haven't even finished photographing yet.
I am not ashamed to admit that I might be a little obsessed
with decking the halls and all things Christmas.

Easy 5 minute gorgeous Christmas wreath

Fresh evergreen wreaths.

Dotted with a couple of pinecones
& a few sprigs of juniper and maybe a big red felt bow...
they are ready to place anywhere in your home to say
Merry Christmas.

White & French blue sparkle Christmas Tree

In a room filled with layers of shades of white
wood plank walls, old chippy paint
and well worn and loved hardwood floors

simple elegance is perfect.

Flower Market Friday

Last week, I ventured into the city
for a fun blogger and customer event with Balsam Hill.

And since I was showing a simple 5 minute technique for adding fresh to faux for a new look -
that meant a stop at the SF Flower Market was in order.

Thanksgiving wishes & recipe

Yesterday was all about setting and styling a
romantic Thanksgiving table.

And today,
it is all about the food.

Romantic Thanksgiving table setting

Did you know, that I made the best mashed potato casserole I have ever made
the first year I tried it?

I did.

Glistening gold, sage velvet &...tinsel

Did you know that
I started decorating for Christmas in September this year?

Gold ornaments and green velvet for a French Country Cottage Christmas

Sometimes, it feels like I am covered in tinsel and faux snow
and all things 'Merry' for months.
And, truth be told- I am.
And I love it.

A look back and a peek

Last years tree was one of my favorites.
It was covered
with faux snow covered branches
red berries
and an abundance of white ornaments.

Pretty Packages

I have a mild obsession with pretty things.

Gift wrapping ideas for Christmas

Like fresh flowers in a vintage container and a little bit of chandelier bling in every room.
And when it comes to Christmas- I love pretty, soft, romantic, elegant decorations
 right down to the packages.

Feathered Nest Friday

Welcome to Feathered Nest Friday!

I hope your week has been going well!
Here's what I shared this week~

5 favorite simple & easy holiday place setting ideas

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is next week?
As in...
next. week.

How did that happen already?

Coastal Christmas tree & table

Seashells & sand dollars
mingling with flickering candles, twinkling lights & Christmas greens
out under the stars.

Have you noticed that I am ever so slightly obsessed with
table stylings and party ideas?

A gold treasure & question

You know those antique shops
where you hesitate to look in those dark, shadowy corners at the back
because... who knows what might be hiding there?

But at the same time...
who knows what might be hiding there
and so, you know you are looking.
Well, it was one of those days. In one of those warehouses.
that had several of those dark corners.
And treasures? Definitely.

Weekend shopping~ Giftables

It is Saturday.
And normally, I would be a little random over here today
but today, I'm talking shopping.

Vintage ornaments (& charming ways to display them)

Ahhh vintage ornaments...

What is it about vintage ornaments that just makes you love them?

Here is what I shared this week~

A frosted tree & a tale

Do you remember when I told you about that day in Carmel when I was
strolling along on the sidewalk when something happened?

The softer side~ High Point Market

The softer side...
it is so unusual over here right?

I know. I know.
I am all about pops of color and loads of patterns mingling in a room.
But sometimes, on occasion, I just have to venture into the world of white slipcovered sofas
warm worn patinas, old fashioned florals and simple lines.
(Are you starting to wonder what I am talking about right now?)
;)

Saturday Musings & More

I love the weekend.
Those lazy mornings where I can easily justify that one more cup of coffee
before getting  out of my comfy robe and slippers.
And where 6 am comes and goes without the alarm sounding.

This weekend- that extra cup of coffee comes with a to-do list a mile long.
But thats okay- because that to do list starts being notched off
with me wearing my slippers and robe while sipping coffee.
;)
Randomness this week?
Flowers, something vintage gold and an amazing new book to share.

Magnolia garland centerpiece (with a secret)

It was a Friday in September.
One of those busy days full of running errands
and crossing off things on the get it done list.

It started early in the morning.
A little work on my blog, answering email, another cup of coffee...
