Welcome to the weekend view.
From critters coming by to flowers on order to decluttering mode- it is all random all the time over here on the weekend. And today- just a short and sweet weekend view.
Kitties, raccoons and deer…
While we are all staying home and not getting together with family and friends right now-
we have been getting quite the visits from an animal family over here.
4 stray cats, 3 deer and a raccoon are making the daily rounds on the porches and in the yard.
We found out that the 1 stray cat that we thought we were feeding-
seems to have now told some of the other local strays that there is free food over here.
So, now it is 4 different cats coming each day to nibble.
They are joining a family of deer who love to wander through the property and the raccoon who loves nibbling on a bit of bird seed around 2am.
So while we are all staying home- the animals are all out and about and business as usual.
Which I find kind of comforting really- and quite amusing to watch.
I am thinking we might have some babies in the raccoon tree again this year (named because it has all kinds of old knots and hollow areas where we found baby raccoons living one year.)
Last year we had a mom that would come by with about 6 or 7 little ones all the time.
Which reminds me that we need to add another bag of cat food ( and bird seed)
to the InstaCart order.
Anyone else using InstaCart for groceries? So easy to do.
Cleaning Closets
I have some big closet emptying and decluttering plans on the agenda this week.
I did not invite Marie Kondo over but yes, it involves junk drawers, bags we have already filled for donation and anything and everything that is not something we are using.
Our local recycle and garbage disposal yard are closed to drop off- so if you don’t have weekly pick up garbage service you are kind of out luck at the moment- but they are doing a bulk pick up and I am beyond excited to load them up.
Of course- you know how it is.
Once you toss out ANYTHING that you haven’t used in the past 10 years- and figure why in the world would you use it now – you will find yourself needing it and looking for it next week.
All Dressed Up
You know those pretty dresses you tucked away for wearing in spring that are in your closet? And those favorite ‘fancy’ shoes you wear on special occasions or date nights? They miss you.
And last week, I had 3 calls and a mastermind zoom meeting- and I decided to put on more than just my everyday comfy jeans or workout clothes. I curled my hair and even put lipstick on- even for just the phone calls where no one would see me. It made a huge difference in how I felt.
So a simple challenge this week- pick an outfit out and wear it around the house- just because. Put on your fancy shoes for a bit- and even maybe set a little table for an impromptu special dinner.
I think everyday occasions to break up the monotony of ‘what day of the week is it?’ are even more important than usual right now.
And with tomorrow being Easter it is a perfect time to get dressed up and be a little bit more fancy. 🙂
Coming your way:
In Random updates: We are tackling some garden projects and building the chicken coop once the supplies are delivered- hopefully this next week. And in the meantime- I am placing an order for some flowers and working on a few video projects.
I am also hoping to wrap up the redesign on the blog in the next week or so- beyond excited to get that done and get all the quirks fixed.
What I’m working on for the blog:
I will be sharing a few ideas for something you can do that might help lift your mood this week.
Sharing a no new purchases bedroom refresh this week using some favorites in the linen closet.
And an update on my Lacanche range and how it is doing after several years.
I haven’t shared anything out in the little cottage in several months- but we are working on adding a simple inexpensive new patio area in the private backyard it has. I am going to share the design plans here shortly- along with some simple ideas for plans for a backyard chicken coop as well.
I have a couple more simple floral centerpieces that I created some videos for so stay tuned for those- and also what I am planting in the garden right now.
And as promised- I am currently putting together a post on our fall trip to Europe and our stop in Rome and just what we were able to accomplish in under 24 hours.
Even though we can’t jump on a plane and do some exploring right now- we can travel virtually- and dream about making travel plans for a special trip in the future.
Wishing you all a beautiful blessed weekend- see you on Monday.
Stay well all.
