If you follow along on instagram or Facebook then you already know
that I was over in Boston having lots of fun last week with HomeGoods.
I love being a part of the blogger team at HomeGoods – these girls are seriously like family
and we have so much fun when we are together.
and we have so much fun when we are together.
We talk every month on our conference call- which usually starts out with about 20 minutes of catching up and small talk before actually getting into the call
and it is just the same when we get together in person.
and it is just the same when we get together in person.
I had never been to Boston- so I was excited to see the city and all that rich history.
We arrived in the evening and several of us who arrived at a similar time
met up at the hotel.
met up at the hotel.
I didn’t bring my big girl camera- just my iPhone – so these are all iPhone photos
We were lucky that we had Joan with us
She lived in Boston for several years and she was happy to show us a little bit of the city she loves.
She lived in Boston for several years and she was happy to show us a little bit of the city she loves.
She is an awesome tour guide and knows all of the top 10 things you should see if you have just a day in a city like New York or Boston.
It was raining- so we grabbed umbrellas and decided to walk to dinner instead of taking a cab so that we could see some of the sights along the way.
Like the Paul Revere Statue
The Freedom Trail
Those little narrow cobblestone streets
Paul Revere House
I loved the lamp posts
Even in the evening and in the rain – it was beautiful.
I loved the cobblestone and brick everywhere- absolutely gorgeous.
We also saw something so moving. We were speechless. The holocaust memorial.
No words.
Boston was filled with so many surprised too.
We went to dinner in a fabulous little old bar in the middle of the old town section
that was seriously just like the one in CHEERS
Actually when we walked in-there were 3 guys seated at the bar who looked up and yelled ‘hey!’
to Joan. They were old friends of hers- yep, just like on the show.
It was so funny.
Pardon my curly rainy weather hair- with Joan and Deb and Cathy- not pictured
We lucked out being able to wander around at night in just the rain-
because the next morning
Boston looked like this and was just.a.little.bit.cold.
(okay, it was freezing in my book)
Loved the stone roof on this building
We put on our coats and gloves and loaded up to head out for day one of Blogger Days.
HomeGoods is an amazing company to work with and one of the things I love is that
they always think about ways to inspire us every month and with blogger days.

Last year, we heard words of wisdom about blogging and balance from their surprise speaker
Grace Bonney of Design Sponge
This year, HomeGoods flew in another amazing speaker – one of the editors of LONNY MAG- who talked about photography from a magazine standpoint.
From getting that perfect angle and shot and telling a story with your photography
to some of the behind the scenes of the magazine and how it works.
I loved it and took tons of great inspirations from it.
We also toured a top secret 😉 area at HomeGoods
where product ideas are developed and planned for-
by using certain colors, schemes or an inspiration piece.

They plan a year in advance so they don’t get a lot of help from the color of the year or trends-
they are focusing on what they think will be hot in home decor in the next year
and they do an amazing job of it.

It was so neat to talk to the buyers and hear all about the process and all the countries they travel to looking for products- talk about a fantastic job!
The next morning- the sun was shining and it was beautiful (cold- but beautiful)
and we had another fun filled day ahead

Yes, you will find me looking for a Starbucks in any town I travel to
and luckily there was one right across the street from the hotel.
I tanked up- getting ready for a special project for day 2.

Before heading to dinner the night before- we were handed a creative assignment
and would be working with a professional photographer for the next day.
Mine involved this space
This little space deserves a whole post of it’s own.
More on that coming soon.
Happy Saturday

omg…I'd give my eye teeth for such a fun and inspiring opportunity! How cool for you! I love Boston, and your pictures captured its essense withtout the usual tourist pictures. The Revere house with people walking past it, as shadows in the rainy night is beautiful, as is the one of the square with the lone person with an umbrella. It looks like there are two ducks in a puddle–is that right?? Wondering if those were taken before or after your photography session? They're beautiful. Oh, and the Starbucks one is great too. Thanks for sharing; can't wait to read more! ~Zuni

Thank you! I had an awesome time and honestly, everywhere I went I saw a photo 🙂 I loved capturing a bit of what Boston was like while I was there. I am not sure if there were ducks in the puddle- it was really raining and cold though. Our photography session was on Friday- these photos were all taken Wednesday night before the 1st day of blogger days.

I live 45 minutes outside of Boston-and you captured it perfectly! The rainy night pics are gorgeous! You'll have to come back in the summer weather and catch all the goings on in the Waterfront District, eat/drink your way through the North End, and catch a Red Sox game in old historic Fenway Park. Can't wait to see what you do with the dining room!
Marisa Franca @ Allourway says
I don't see how your big girl camera could have done any better. And I have an app that tells me where the Starbucks are 🙂 Perhaps you'll be able to give us a sneak peak at what is hush, hush — you know just between us –I won't tell a soul 🙂

Sounds fun! I can't wait to see what you do with the room.

Beautiful pictures. We make an annual girls trip to Massachusetts from Texas each May. A week of junking, shopping, laughing, and eating, oh and did I mention, laughing? We fly into Boston . The first thing we do after we leave the airport is head to Mike's Pastry for the best baked goods ever made. I'm so glad that you shared your adventure with me today, and I can't wait to see how the room turned out. Now, I'm heading over to find you on Instagram.
Smiles,
Carol
