It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
Today I am sharing a little bit of the Merry & Bright that is appearing in the living room.
Truth be told- I was going to take the rest of the photos of this room today. But 3 bags full of vintage ornaments and a wispy tree talked to me and before I knew it- it was already getting dark.
So just sharing a peek at the mantel today- and a few styling tips for creating a charming vignette for Christmas.
A dough bowl full of ornaments
Have I mentioned I am obsessed with bowls full of ornaments? Vintage, new, shiny or matte- I love them all. Especially when they have that delicious texture like mottled vintage ornaments or like these do.
If you are a big ornament lover like me- grab all those ornaments and fill bowls, buckets, troughs, bins, etc. with them. They create an instant charming centerpiece.

This antique dough bowl is on the dining room table- I love the centerpiece it creates in an instant.
Garland covered with stars

This is such a fun look this year- I have been having so much fun with these beautiful capiz star garlands in various places. You might remember that I used them inside the fire box in the bedroom-

and here they are on the mantel.

I love how they add that whimsical touch and a create a bit of magic.

Fresh Eucalyptus
Even though it won’t last the whole season, I love the beautiful look that a fresh eucalyptus garland brings to the mantel. This was a special order from a favorite vendor at the SF Flower Mart- I requested loose and long eucalyptus- and this one is absolutely perfect. A tip if using fresh greens is to spritz with water every day but if using it near a real fireplace you are using everyday – make sure to replace with fresh for safety when it starts to dry out.

A twinkling tree
Can you believe I have not yet decorated this tree? I haven’t. And I absolutely love how it just simply wearing twinkle lights and filling the room with ambiance.

A tip is to not get overwhelmed when it comes to Christmas decor. Take your time and enjoy the process rather than rushing through. If that means a couple trees twinkle away undecorated for a bit- that is absolutely okay!
