Lately, I’ve felt drawn to the quieter moments in the everyday. I have paused to notice the way light rests on a stack of books, the poetry that comes with well-worn pages, and the abundance of beauty that is found in the quiet.

Over time, my work has become more about noticing —the details, the light, the feeling a room holds. The stories behind the furniture, the trinkets, the tables and events. The the home and the person who lives inside those walls has countless stories to tell.

Some stories are louder. Bolder and more intense. Others are lived softly through dancing light, collected and treasured objects, and spaces in our home that we return to and find comfort and warmth. They hold the memories and the magic. The love of family and friends. The table set for gathering. The moments in the garden with a favorite furry friend. Home is filled with stories we hold close and when we are ready to share them in a beautiful project like a book, they should be told with photography that conveys the emotion and creates a response in the viewer.

My name is Courtney and I am the girl behind the curtain of the blog and brand French Country Cottage. I wear a lot of hats when it comes to work and one of my favorites is storytelling with photography.

I am a self taught natural light photographer and telling a story with photography is what I love to do. To create and capture the stories and magic that I see through my lens to share with the viewer.

Over the past 15 years, I have worked with magazines all over the U.S. and Europe -on full features as well as cover photos.

I have worked as a magazine editor and am fluent in layout designs for books and magazines so I understand the views and captures that they need to help tell a story.

I have worked with other traditional book publishers to capture photos for their authors.

I have traveled across the globe to share experiences, locations and destinations with photos and video for hotels.

Large brands and small brands have trusted me as a creative partner to style and photograph their products and create video content for website, social media, advertising use and more.

I did all of the styling and photography for my 4 traditionally published books.

I have been asked many times if I am available to do the photography for others book projects.

A book is a big dream project filled with passion, energy and all kinds of emotion filled magic.

I am opening up a few limited slots for book photography projects for 2026 and also locking in projects on the calendar for 2027 currently. I am based in Northern California and available to travel worldwide.
