I love a simple project.
Especially one that can be made
with just a few elements and in about 10 minutes
Especially one that can be made

Like these rope chargers
I wanted something with a chunky texture for a beach inspired table setting
that I am working on for a project
and rope chargers and serving trays came to mind.
Rope or rope style chargers have been around for years-
you can find them in various stores at different price points
but you can also easily make them yourself in just a few minutes
There are several different diy tutorials out there on the best or easiest way to make these
but this is how I made them
What you need:
Rope
hot glue gun & glue
cardboard round
My preference is the big, chunky- chunky rope
but that is sold by the foot and so will be more expensive for each charger
so I am also showing the smaller sisal rope version which is sold in a bundle
and is much less expensive
The smaller sisal rope is a little more ‘flat’ and looks closer to a thin, woven charger
You can choose which rope speaks to you
or fits the look that you are going for.
For the cardboard round:
I used those rounds you can get that are for cakes- you can get them in various sizes
but you can also cut your own if you prefer
You can start either in the middle or along the outer edge- whatever you find easiest to work with
I started in the middle and glued the rope as I wrapped it around
and finished by going just a bit over the edge of the cardboard to keep it from showing
To finish- cut the end of the rope on a little bit of an angle
and dab it with glue it so it won’t unravel.
Just a note:
The larger chunky rope is not as easy to ‘wrap up’ so to speak
The one I used is about 3/4″ thick and it is harder to cut and harder
to make the end of the rope smooth.
If the abrupt edge look bothers you then an option is to take a piece of the smaller rope
and simply add that around the edge (as shown below)
to help make the finish a little more clean looking.
These would be perfect for an outdoor setting and 4th of July table as well.
Love a simple project.

Great idea! I have also seen somewhere on the Internet little stools decorated in the same way.
Just a simple rope and so many interesting things you can do depending on your imagination and creativity.
And I admire your creativity!
