Welcome to the weekend view. I hope your Saturday is off to a great start! The sun is starting to peek through the clouds a bit over here- we have had rain on the past couple of days but starting today- the sunshine is coming back and we are going to be warming up this week. Which means I am thinking allll about tackling those outdoor projects and also getting back to sitting outside by the fire pit again too.
This week, the weekend view is random as always-and it is all about gardening, strawflowers, chicks, grand dog watching and finishing up that brick project.
The Garden
The garden is getting a bit of a freshening this week. We are planting some of the new roses in the cutting garden that we ordered awhile back and are also getting ready to put in a new area. Barefoot roses don’t generally look like anything too cute- but they should leaf out and start getting pretty fairly quickly and they are said to bloom first year of planting – which makes me even happier.
Grout, wipe, grout
Yep. THAT project. I mentioned last week that grouting the brick was making me crazy. We have picked up a grout haze remover- which we can use in another few days (you have to let the grout ‘cure’ a bit first) but we were able to get most of the ‘extra’ grout haze off just by doing a lot of wiping. So, it is looking ok a the moment. Waiting on a couple things to arrive and it will be time to install the rest of the elements. I am getting excited- but my shoulder is still yelling at me even a week later- it does not share the joy of this project getting done. haha.
Fleurs
That chunk of flowers that arrived? Oh my goodness. Such a treat on a rainy day in winter when you really want a burst of spring sunshine. I picked up ranunculus and a bunch of strawflower- which I am absolutely loving. We have an outdoor family get together coming up in a few weeks so I will be placing a special order for some blooms for the individual tables and the house – and am thinking strawflower is going to be on the list.
Grand Dog Watching
I mentioned that we were watching our grand dog Cleo last week. My daughter and her fiancé were up in Alaska enjoying all the snow and cold weather. I told them they are the only people I know who would leave cold and snowy Tahoe in winter for a vacation in colder, snowier Alaska. Me? Hawaii sounds about right. They loved it though- and we loved this sweet girl being in the house again.
Gourmet Lunch
My husband was chopping and pureeing and creating something good with veggies and cheese the other day. When it was ready, he spooned it onto a pretty plate edged in gold and garnished it with sliced tomatoes and said ‘Voila!’ before serving.
I would share the recipe for this freshly blended mist-mash kind of treat- but this particular one? It was for the birds. As in- for our chickens. 🙂 He is the ultimate chicken dad and serves up their fresh veggies in style- complete with their favorite tomatoes as garnish and a pretty plate to enjoy it on.
Wandering
In this weeks edition of Wandering-
Create: Love this gathered skirt for hiding a sink- so pretty!!
Bake: Peanut Butter Cookies dipped in chocolate? I am IN.
Inspire: I love this spring porch and the cute baskets for plants- the prettiest!
And One for the Road- Here is a look at our Greenhouse Garden last year. We are getting ready to move the veggies that are in the greenhouse -and I am pretty excited to share more inspiration out there soon.
Happy Weekend all.
