Something old… something new.
And I spy something cute and fluffy too. 🙂
Today it is all about this vintage inspired Christmas tree. One that has branches covered in ‘snow’ and that is dotted with dozens of vintage ornaments along with some new ones. I am sharing a first look at this tree in the bedroom today- along with a few tips on how to get the look.
Vintage Ornaments & Heavy Flock Tree
This is the very First tree in a series I am doing this year- the 12 Trees of Christmas. I am so excited to share them all with you- each of them are different and I hope they will inspire some of your decorating this year. 🙂
Start with a favorite color
When creating a look for a Christmas tree- you start with inspiration. A color, a style, a theme, etc. For this tree- I started with a favorite color and a favorite color combination. Pink with frosty whites- and lots of layers of them in different shapes and sizes.
I have been collecting vintage ornaments for years and years- and this tree was a perfect one to gather up those shades of pink, gold and pearl vintage ornaments for.
Vintage & New
Though this tree is mostly inspired by that bold and beautiful fuchsia color on all those vintage ornaments- I also wanted to layer in other shades of pink. I chose some new ornaments in delicious velvet blush and mauve along with pearl colors in both vintage and new.
Lots of shapes and sizes
A tip is to choose various size, shape and style of ornaments for a interesting and designer look. I love using those pretty round baubles in 3 or 4 different sizes- from chunky to mini. Along with drops and finials and even ornaments that have a stripe or pattern or starburst detail.
Stay tuned for more of the bedroom decorated for Christmas coming your way soon- and the Official Start of the French Country Cottage 12 Days of Christmas– with a little bit of a tweak to this look to change it a bit. 🙂
