Sharing a simple and sweet spring flower arrangement using cabbage as a vase today.
Spring Flower Arrangement
This spring flower arrangement is so easy to make- and easy to customize. I am using a pop of pretty ranunculus and a few sprigs of lilac for the flowers for this one. I wanted to use something that was readily available- and ranunculus and lilac are both in our local grocery stores currently- so hopefully yours too. You will also need a cabbage- purple or green work perfectly. And of course, you can use a faux cabbage that is able to be carved as well.
What you need
- Ranunculus
- Lilac
- Cabbage
Carve the Cabbage
Start be making sure your cabbage will sit fairly flat – be a bit choosy when looking at the cabbages to find one that is more flat on one side than others. Then carve out the center to create a hole where you can place a jar or bowl for water. You can also use a florist foam and line the cabbage if you would like to.
Place your cup or jar inside and fill with water (or line and use a florist foam, etc.)
Then start filling with your flowers. I started with the lilac first since they will give some structure for the ranunculus. Ranunculus can be a bit tricky since many times they like to flop over and the often don’t have sturdy stems.
You can place a flower frog inside the cabbage as well if you would like some additional structure- I tend to keep it simple but go with whatever your favorite way is.
Keep filling with flowers until it is full and flowy. I used a bunch of white ranunculus, a bunch of pink ranunculus and a handful of burgundy ranunculus along with about 6 stems of lilac if that helps give you an idea.
I generally like to repeat more than one on the table- but for this small table I created just this one and placed it on a breadboard for a centerpiece.
So simple and so pretty- and pretty perfect for Easter tables or any type of spring gathering.
Shop the Look
You can use faux if you prefer- just click the photo to shop. *I could not tell for sure if the cabbage is carvable. contains affiliate links

What a great idea with using the cabbage as a vessel for your flower arrangement. Love this and would love to share it on my weekly wrap-up blog post this weekend.

Lovley! You have such an eye for pretty things. But i am curious. Where I live a ed cabbage costs an amount equal to $US5.50. Are they much cheaper in the US?
