I know what you are thinking… I just last week shared a vintage settee that I found. It is true- I did. And to be honest, I wasn’t even looking for that delicious rust velvet carved beauty. But I did know that it would be perfection for some upcoming photo shoots we are working on and so- it came home with me. Little did I know that it would not be the only vintage settee to come home that week. Because when you find an antique French settee and set of 4 dining chairs for a price that you can barely believe- you bring them home. And so that is what I did.

Antique French Settee
I mean. How Could I even begin to start to resist this one folks. I could see how that rich velvet settee is not my usual style and so you could question that one. But this one? No way. No how. This is a stunner folks and I honestly can hardly believe I ended up being able to grab it.
As usual, it started on marketplace. I found a listing for an antique settee and 4 side chairs. They looked darling- they had slipcovers and lovely details. A little bit of staining on one of the chairs- but nothing that would stop me at the price. I knew I was interested in seeing more. I messaged and the guy got right back to me and said they were pending pick up. Of course. A lot of the good stuff is pending pick up by the time you message. I asked him to let me know if they were not picked up.

About 4 days later- they were listed yet so I messaged to see if they were picked up since we were going to be in the area. He didn’t reply so I figured they were and he just didn’t remove the listing. The next day, a message popped up from him that the buyer never showed and so, they were available. Of course, I jumped on them.
French Settee Details
The sweetest little settee- seriously. I only saw one photo of it in the listing and so wasn’t exactly sure how they would look in person. They are all upholstered in white linen and have little slipcovers with long ballerina ties.

The settee has all the delicious carvings & gilding that those dainty French pieces we love have- such a pretty little piece.

The back was a bit of a surprise since I didn’t see it in a photo ahead of time- but it is so sweet. A charming gingham print that is lovely with the well loved gilding.

Unfortunately as you can see there is a large tear in the fabric on one side. I am not sure it can be closed very well but will try or just enjoy as is.
The Side Chairs
As I mentioned, there were also 4 dining chairs that came with this. Just one of them has some staining – the others are pretty good condition.

I did find a makers mark on the bottom of one and they are from a well known furniture maker in Europe and apparently circa early 1900’s. Look at all those little carved details on the frame- delicious! The fabric on the chairs need some cleaning and 1 of the slipcovers has a hole but otherwise- they are in pretty good shape as well. I am honestly amazed at how heavy they are.
While I definitely didn’t have a spot for the dining chairs or the settee (yet) I am a big believer in if you love something- you will find a perfect spot for it. I anticipate some spring cleaning and rearranging and redecorating will be happening here soon so stay tuned for that.
But the big question is… what price do you think these 5 pieces all together were?

It was $120 for Everything. CRAZY good. And now you know why I had to bring them home.

So what about you- what would you do? Love it or Leave it?
Stay tuned for something fun coming your way with this settee next week and if you are an Early Bird Subscriber to the Market- keep an eye on your inbox with a first chance to shop invitation. If you are not yet a subscriber- but would like to be one- you can subscribe below:

How could you not bring the set home at that price. I love them!
Oh my gosh you always find the most amazing things!!!!! And the prices!! I love all of your finds and can’t wait to see them fitting into your beautiful home. I live in arizona and it’s kind of hard to find antique French things at the antique stores. It’s mostly a lot of arizona type stuff, which i don’t particularly love. i’d give anything to be able to go to some shows that carry these rare french finds! French is my thing!!! So is your account! Sooo beautiful!!
Trinkets and Treasures: I LOVE the setee and chairs! So nice. You LUCKY GIRL.
the French Settee and four chairs are gorgeous! I love love love love them. absolutely yes! they are exactly my style I would move things around and put them in my living room. maybe two chairs across from the settee with a small table in between. and the other two chairs in the same room with a little French gilded table beside them to have tea. I do also love the cabinet you found. yes, I would find room for it somewhere. maybe even the bedroom as a dresser and one of the drawers with the Cubbies for jewelry.
I want to go shopping where you Thrift. I never find treasures as wonderful as you and at those prices. enjoy
