One of my favorite ways to decorate for Christmas- using simple beautiful elegant French inspired Christmas decorating ideas. And today- I am sharing a couple easy ways to add a lovely French inspired touch as well as natural touches to your holiday decor.
Originally this was going to be a round up of lots of ideas And a post about another tree in the series today. But- camera issues folks. I had to order a new camera body so the tree had to wait and this is more of a mix and mingle of French inspired and Natural inspired decor instead. Which absolutely go together beautifully.
Ribbons & Bows
One of my absolute favorites for French inspired Christmas decorating- adding ribbons and bows to the tree. It is a very beautiful elegant and simple look and it definitely is a favorite way to create a tree that has a touch of ‘French’ to it.
Last year, I added blush ribbons to the living room tree- they were so pretty mixed with silvers and golds. This year this tree might look a little similar and a little bit different. 🙂 Stay tuned for this years living room tree reveal later this week.
The key with ribbons is to tie them somewhat loosely. I personally don’t like those stiff little ribbons that you often find on those little potted trees at the supermarket so I choose soft satin or velvet ribbons. And I love a loose ribbon that has a loose bow and dangles beautifully.
Fresh Clipped Greens
Simple and so easy if you have pine or cedar trees on your property. Just go clip a few branches to use. If you don’t have any trees- you can get free clippings at Home Depot and Lowe’s in the Christmas tree lot usually. Just a few sprigs placed around the house will add a festive feeling. I also love to use orange slices and anise for a touch of that ‘French’ inspired Christmas decorating and feeling.
Fresh Garland
I do use a faux garland on the fireplace in the living room for the season usually- because we burn that fire daily and fresh will dry out in no time. But on the stair banister and places that are further away from the heat the fire puts out- fresh is perfect. This years staircase decor is coming soon.
LED candles on the Tree
Such a simple elegant look. I love to use those little clip on candles on the Christmas trees for a lovely old fashioned touch.
This tree is a mix and match- here is a little sneak of what it is looking like. The full tree and landing area with the staircase is coming your way.
Christmas Fruit
Another favorite way to bring that French touch- dried and fresh fruit.
On the tree- little slices of oranges are perfect.
Tucked into a cupboard, on a shelf or simply in bowls with greens- fresh fruit brings a ton of simple elegant charm.
Wee trees
Those wee little trees are so charming – I have these two in a couple different places in the house currently- and I love them so much. There is something about those little tiny trees that make me think of Europe and all the charm their chubby Christmas trees have.
You can see this one in the background in a crate- which is another favorite way to display and enjoy them.
Olive Wreaths
I love olive wreaths and branches for their soft lovely color and dainty look. Add a bow- and you can hang those wreaths anywhere and add instant sweetness. This wreath is dried – but fresh are incredible too.
Sprigs of fresh greens
Hang a clipping or sprig of greens anywhere for instant Christmas. This little chunk of juniper tied with a blush ribbon- I love it in the kitchen on the wall.
Beads and Baubles
A little bit of elegance and sweetness are favorite ways to decorate and they are on repeat over here this year- just like the bows. I love that the delicate crystal garlands and beads adds all kinds of elegance and beauty to any style of tree. Find this tree Here.
Glittery Old Fashioned Fruit Wreath
I am obsessed with this look this year- this Orchard Harvest wreath and garland are absolutely gorgeous. I love the wreath on the door but also will share how you can use it in a different area as well. It reminds me of a tree with vintage sugar sprinkled fruit. And as I mentioned yesterday- it is currently on sale at Balsam Hill- you can find it here.
These are a few favorite ways I love to decorate with a French style and also using natural touches and elegance for the holidays. Stay tuned for a lot more shares and the rest of our 12 Trees coming your way in the next 2 weeks!
