When I was a little girl, I can remember curling up in my favorite chair
and staring at the Christmas tree for hours.
The twinkle of the lights that lit up the room and the
soft warm glow that they cast across the floor while lighting up
each of the pretty ornaments that were tucked in among it’s branches.
One of my favorite times was in the evening when those twinkling lights
seemed to glow even brighter.
When I was older, I started to decorate my bedroom for Christmas as well
and had a little tiny tree with little tiny lights
and little tiny garland.
I suppose even then I was dreaming about the day that I would
decorate my grown up girl bedroom for Christmas
with a big tree that glowed all season long
and a fireplace to dress with greens and hang stockings on.
I have shared some of these photos in the home tour earlier
but wanted to share more of our Christmas bedroom and a closer look at the details.
Like pretty packages under the tree
and simple greenery atop the armoire
Vintage ornaments and sprigs of greenery
and simple paperwhites in a white tureen
Above the bed this year- a couple branches of fresh greens and a little
Merry & Bright atop the shelf
and a little Joy in the glittered pillow that is mixed with grain sacks
and florals on the bed.
A decidedly French look for the mantel
which is topped mostly in bay leaves this season
With a fresh bay leaf wreath on the mirror
and a gold cherub that was my grandmothers placed in the center.
I really am loving the simple charm the warm gold color
that the pears and the cherub bring.
A soft glow from the fire keeps the room warm
and adds to that holiday ambiance.
The bathroom is wearing mostly fresh greens and simple touches
this year
With a fresh seeded cedar garland draped along the French armoire
and a trio of glass ornaments hanging from it’s key
A sweet little tree placed into a bucket is perfect
and fills the room with a Christmasy scent.
On the mirror above the bathtub
a small candle wreath with a pale peach ribbon
and a silver tray filled with ornaments and fresh bouquet sits across the bathtub.
It seems that I am in love with just simple Christmas touches this year
Maybe in part because it feels more like
when I was a little girl and the Season brought so much excitement
and joy and magic
When even though the house was decked to the nines
and the halls were filled with Christmas cheer
and there wasn’t a corner in our house that was untouched
it was the simple things like the glow of the tree
that fascinated me the most.
And once the tree was decorated and twinkling every evening
it truly felt like Christmas time.

All of the pictures are gorgeous but the lit up tree in your bedroom takes my breath away! Do you remember about what settings you had your camera on? I have tried my shooting my tree a million times but I never turns out at bright as yours. Have a Merry Christmas!
Courtney says
Hi Shanna!
I am not sure but I usually shoot in M mode and almost always over expose just a bit- maybe that is the difference? Merry Christmas to you as well!

I love the bay leaf wreath. The leaves are so beautiful!!! Are the other branches in the picture, bay also? Where in the world does one get bay greenery? Grow it? I love all the fresh items you used, but especially the bay. All the natural elements and the beautiful white glow are magical.
Courtney says
Hi Barbara~
I ordered fresh bay leaves and the fresh bay wreath from a local evergreen supplier. Most of the greens have used this year have been fresh bay and fresh cedar. Hope that helps!

Courtney, where did you find the gorgeous French chest in the 5th and 6th pictures? I am redecorating a bedroom and am looking for a chest like that one? Is it an antique? If so, any suggestions where I might find a good reproduction one very similar? I absolutely love it! Thanks!!!!!

Courtney, where did you find the gorgeous French chest in the 5th and 6th pictures? If it is an antique, do you have any suggestions as to where I can find a similar reproduction? It is exactly what I am looking for!
Courtney says
Hi Jackie,
The chest is antique and was found on craigslist. There are some really great reproduction companies- I have shared quite a few of my favorite companies in my posts about High Point Market. Accentrics Home and John-Richard are two that come to mind right away for similar pieces.

It is gorgeous. My question is how did you get that many lights on the tree??? I put 5 long strings on mine and it still doesn't glow like that. Really nice!
Courtney says
Hi Debbie! Thank you- I didn't add to the lights- this tree came with that many on it.
