Those are some of my inspirations for the petite cottage bathroom makeover
that we have been working away on for the past week.
It’s a small room and is part of the little cottage on our property.
which resulted in damage to the walls and floor in one area.
Lowes gave each of their Creative Ideas bloggers $500 to head to Lowes
for lumber so I knew I would find the perfect elements to make the bathroom amazing.
It was supposed to be a quick trip in to grab supplies but truth be told…
I wandered and dreamed and drooled for several hours.
All I was missing was a cup of coffee and a little lunch in the garden department.
On my makeover want list:
Everything I found was already priced fantastically and even better- on sale!
I also found a couple amazing clearance deals
As a big time bargain shopper
I LOVE that!
My first stop at Lowes was the lighting department.
I knew exactly what type of sconce I wanted for the space.
Something with a vintage feel and lots of charm AND since I had a lot of things
I was planning on doing in the bathroom they had to be priced well too.
Shabby, french cottage and so sweet and just $49 each-
We had great bones with the angled ceiling – but it was just plain old sheetrock originally.
We found thin grooved knotty pine planks from Lowes to finish the ceiling with
Love the character they add to the room with their knot holes and rough texture
and they are priced at $8.99 for 14 square feet.
Awesome.
Next was a drop-in bathroom sink.
We found a perfect white rimmed sink on clearance for just a few dollars
I thought about a pedestal sink-and Lowes had some gorgeous ones for sure
(already thinking about replacing the sinks in my master bathroom with a pair I found)
but I had the perfect shabby old sideboard stored just waiting for a new life as a vanity.
(I’ll share the how to on turning this sideboard into a vanity in another post.)
Being a big time bead board girl -of course that was on my list.
I absolutely loved how detailed their wall board was.
and it really makes a difference in how it looks on the wall in person.
Being that this is a pretty small room- we didn’t need too many sheets-
they were priced around $18.00 each.
I love them because they are fantastic for moist areas like a bathroom and their architectural detail.
They are placed high up on the wall- at 8′ to cover the seam where the bead board panels
came together in this 10′ tall room.
Some of this trim was leftover from a previous project so we didn’t need much more.
I am a big believer in re-using what you can, finding elements that you already have
and re-imagining them and also in mixing old and new.
The old bathroom door is original to our house – just a new coat of paint was all it needed.
The floor was replaced with a creamy sand colored tile that was a Lowes Special Purchase
and just .78 cents each so the whole new floor was around $45
we were able to makeover the bathroom on a budget.

OMG! I'm swooning right now. No, make that drooling right now! You used my favorite color combo grey, white and touches of fushia and pink topped off with burlap. Those are the colors I used in my powder room, but it doesn't hold a candle to yours! I love the beadboard walls and wood planked ceiling. I love the romantic style mirror and sconces above the grey antique looking vanity with the rolled up towels in it. Love the little chair with burlap and all the ruffled white fabric. Ok, I better stop now before I write a book. Just yummy!!

You blow me away! I love how you have used new and old to create and instill a vintage European feel. This reminds me of my grandma's farmhouse bathroom…which is a compliment! The airiness, the basicness, yet beautifully detailed combination is perfect and I think Lowe's should be honored that you have showcased such elegance with their products:)

I have a sink in an old dresser in my bathroom as well. I'm slowly redoing this room as well, but know the look I want. Sometimes it just takes a while to get there, right?

Courtney, this is so pretty and romantic and so you! I would love to have a dresser to place a sink in, but no room for one in our little bathroom. The master has to stay the way it is, but your dresser in that gray and filled with towels is so yummy. I love the sconces. They are perfect. so pretty Courtney! I smiled when I saw your light fixtures. We just looked at those for our bath! 🙂 they are so cute! we are in a pickle with our lighting. They've been broken for over a year, look terrible, and now we've been through 4 different fixtures, and none fit the existing fittings. 🙁 So frustrating! If we can't find one that fits, we will be turning a not so expensive DIY to a drywall and electrician job. On a five year old house. Boo!
