Fa-la-la-la-la is on repeat for the next few weeks over here- and today it is all about a traditional Christmas color and charm with a snowy red Christmas tree.
Snowy Red Christmas Tree
The cottage is colorful. Well, somewhat colorful- or I guess you could just say it is more colorful than the house. I feel the cottage has moody English country vibes with the dark bookcases and old yellow cupboards in the kitchen. And so, the cottage inspires me to play with that color palette more and bring in layers of bold color and moody elements to mingle.
And today it is all about those beautiful reds.
Reds on Repeat
Red is a traditional Christmas color so it isn’t unexpected to have a red tree in the cottage and every year I do try to play with a red themed tree. While I love to add some rich burgundy tones to the house it is all traditional bright red on this tree. I took several different ornament sets and mixed them up a bit for a more collected look and varied look. I also added in some vintage ornaments and berry picks. For this tree- there are about 100 ornaments various sizes in red, gold and red and green.
A tip with using ornaments in one color palette is to use different shapes, sizes and colors. From round baubles to drops to geometric shapes. Place larger ornaments tucked inside the tree to fill in areas- and smaller ornaments on the outer branches.
Nutcrackers and Sugar Plum Fairy dreams
A set of traditional nutcrackers adds a bit of charm to this tree- along with some Sugar Plum Fairy inspired nutcrackers that bring some whimsy. I used 1 set of nutcrackers to fill this tree- along with an additional 6 Sugarplum fairy nutcracker ornaments.
Add something whimsical and unexpected like a large Santa to your tree.
All in the details
Sugared berry picks fill in any areas of the tree that felt a little bare. I used 1 set of picks separated into several pieces.
Go big and full in allllll the areas with picks- or lightly add them here and there. Either way is beautiful and it is up to personal preference on what you prefer your tree to look like.
