Welcome to the weekend view. This week is all about storm clean up and family.
Weekend View
Storm Clean Up
A whole lot of storm clean up going on here in California- and our property that looks like cutting up big trees that fell. When the snow started melting, we realized that one of the trees that landed next to the barn also landed on top of the storage shed near the property line and came down right through the roof and wall. We are taking it as an opportunity to build a bigger shed and create more storage. My husband has been cutting up cedar and oak trees in sections that are laying on other trees to try and stand some of those smaller tree back up. Not sure it will work, but it is worth a try since so many trees are down and the landscape has changed.
This snap was one I took before the heavy part of the storm moved in- we ended up with about 4.5′ of snow here with the storm- which is about 4.5′ too much haha.
Lavender Dreaming
I am playing with beautiful lavender this weekend for spring inspired post coming your way. This is a pretty in purple swag – and it is gorgeous on a door though I am using it in a different way. Stay tuned for that next week. Shop the collection Here Screen grab from instagram story
Family Fun
Every weekend we get together with the boys and their families and soon my daughter and her fiancé will be able to join us too- they are moving back to the area for a bit of a regroup while deciding what their next adventure is. The Tahoe winter has been a doozy this year.
This weekend our family get together was special in that my mom and step dad also joined us. Great Grandma had a whole lot of fun cuddling Enzo and Jionni and playing with Juliette and it was so nice to see them and catch up.
My husband spent some time in the morning filling the back of his truck with some of the heaps of snow we have around the house so that he could bring snow for Juliette to play in. After tossing snowballs and dumping it all over the backyard to play in (in glorious 70 degree weather) & they made a small snowman on the lawn.
Sweetest Things
My daughter in laws both sent me the sweetest things this week that filled me with smiles and so much love. And I thought that I would start sharing the Sweetest Things -aka some of the little moments or tidbits that brought joy each week here on the Weekend View.
My daughter in law Diem sent me a post on Instagram that someone shared about her mother in law and said that is how I am for her. Which made me a bit teary and also so happy at the same time. ❤️
Find yourself a MIL who loves you like her own daughter. Who has listened as you cried uncontrollably from being overwhelmed and offered her help, not advice. Who loves your children so much she cried at any personalized item made for her from them. Who offers to take the kids so you can spend time with your husband. Find yourself a MIL who makes you life better.

And my daughter in law Katt sent me a sweet video of Juliette looking at one of my books and finding ‘Grandma’ in the back of the book and then giving my photo a hug. ❤️ Sharing a screen grab
Porch Patrol
They mostly look like they are laying down on the job- but they are cute and bring delight to folks who stop by so the job is theirs.
Weekend Wandering
Wandering this week looks like this:
A timely post since I have slips that need to a spring refresh- all about how to get stains out of slipcovers.
We are big garlic parmesan fries fans over here- and this recipe looks delicious. We suggest a yogurt ranch or yogurt blue cheese dressing to dip them in if you try them.
Happy Weekend all.

We too have a mess to clean up from the storms and the endless rain! We live in Grass Valley CA. In town receiVed 4-5 feet. More is coming this week. With the winds we lost an enormous pine. It totally uprooted. Looking at the emense caveRn it left behind my hisband asked if I wanted a swimming pool! We are whittling it away lttle by little. It took out a couple of dogwood trees and a bridge over a stream. Oh well!! Make lemonade feom lemons – maybe I will get a swimming pool!!😂

Sounds like you have a wonderful family life, You’re truly blessed! I love the mil poem, since my nickname is mil and both of my son in laws passed away within thirteen months. I sure do miss them. Unfortunatley daughter in law wasn’t loving like yours!

I’m in Southern California and as a native, I don’t remember a winter like this ever. We got a glimpse of spring this past weekend. I’m holding on to that as the rain mother nature dumps another load of rain.
I have two wonderful dil’s and am grateful every day for them and the grandchildren they’ve given me.
Hang in there with the weather.
xo,
