Welcome to the Weekend View.
Weekend View
Last week was full of garden and Christmas in July fun. And I did a bit of junking and came home with more than I was planning. The good news is I have some new to me fun projects to work on and will be sharing the Before & Afters of a couple of them here with you too.
Vintage Chairs and Benches
I hauled home a few vintage chairs and an old wood bench last week. I don’t know how it happens but I manage to bump into something pretty fabulous here and there fairly often. And with it being yard sale season, it is a bit more than usual I suppose. I guess the key is to just not stop… but then I just know I will miss out on something I *need* haha. Really, though, much of what I buy is used for a photo prop or special styling and then can be resold or donated back to the thrift store. So, I kind of look at it as vintage in and vintage out so someone else can use it.
This chair was talking to me at a sale. I am going to take a look at what is under the stained seat fabric and am hoping there is a lovely old fabric underneath or even burlap that can be exposed. Excited to share more about those special chairs from last week too.
Dumpster On Demand
We had a dumpster delivered to our property recently so that we could clean up the storm damage and toss things that were ruined. The shed collapsed when a tree landed on it and much of what was inside was too damaged to repair by water and moisture. My daughter and I also went through the cupboards and closets and did a bit of spring cleaning and decluttering. Always fees good to clean up and have some more breathing room in the closets!
Allium
I ordered the most beautiful allium from the flower market – and it completely knocked my socks off. These flower filled heads are huge- and such a pretty color. I am not sure what their exact name is but they are maybe Giant Gladiator Allium? Does anyone know? I would love to order some bulbs to plant for next year- they are so pretty!
New Dishwasher
I don’t know if I mentioned that our dishwasher went kaput a bit ago. Always a bummer when an appliance quits working. To be honest, I wanted to replace it with a different one and so I had a different reaction to needing a new one. The pretty little drawer dishwasher I wanted was pretty pricey – but I watched and waited and when it was on a decent sale for the holiday weekend- I ordered it and we just installed it last week. I will share a peek at it and share the details on why the next project will be replacing the kitchen floor lol. Always some kind of a project over here.
Christmas Book
I want to say thank you again for all of your kind words, excitement and pre-orders of my new Christmas book. I appreciate you all and am so thankful for our community and how wonderful it is. Some of us DIY/Design bloggers have chatted before about what a wonderful, supportive community we have- and it really is true. Your excitement and comments touched me- I am grateful for you.
This is a screenshot from a video of Juliette looking through the book- she likes to point out ‘Granna’ in the back.

We are off to take a look at a few garden bits for the new garden area this weekend- including a fountain that looks like it would be perfect. Will keep you updated and see you on the blog next week for a closer look at recent junking treasures, some fun Christmas in July recipes and table ideas and more.
Happy Saturday everyone!

The chair has good bones. Are we painting it or recovering only? Juliette is adorable and growing quickly. I guess babies do that.
