The weekend view is all about soaking up a slower pace and enjoying a little bit of downtime, sunrise magic and sweet treats. All about the week that was and a little bit of randomness today.
Sunrise Magic
I have been starting the morning with a little more slowness recently. Sipping my coffee and slowly waking up before jumping into work, news or emails. And this beautiful sunrise view was a treat the other day- the sky was full of glorious colors as the sun came up- and I love how the trees look so dark against their vibrance.
Birthday Boys
We celebrated 2 birthdays in the family in January- and of course, that means a little bit of baking was on the agenda. I decided that a peanut butter cup cheesecake was perfect for the occasion and made one using a favorite recipe. Always a favorite- it didn’t disappoint- I made a video showing how to make it for Instagram- stay tuned for recipe coming to the blog- it is perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Winter Whites Flowers
An armful of fresh flowers in the house last week meant fresh flower arrangements happening for several different blog posts. I wrapped up a photoshoot (coming your way on Friday) and then brought the arrangement into the house to show in a different setting. Stay tuned for how it came together and a tutorial- and best part? These are all flowers from the regular grocery store.
Clover
Oh this goat. She is a bit of a diva and a wild one- and loves to nibble on everything. She was enjoying a few bites in the pen when I got a snap of her mid- nibble with her little tongue out.
Kevin
And this one- Kevin jumped up and decided to enjoy a little spot in the sun. The glimpse of part of the stack of firewood behind him is a small fraction of the trees that fell that my husband has been cutting up and piling in various areas everyday.
Planting
We are doing some planting in the next couple of weeks – getting ready for a couple of big garden and photography projects this year. I will share what we are ordering and what we plant where when everything arrives.
I am hopeful that the new greenhouse /potting shed garden will come back in okay after the all the damage from the storm. As of right now- it is sure looking like we will have to replant a whole lot of things. The good news is that we know more about what grew well there last year and can adjust what we plant this year to make it even better.
Wandering
In wandering this week- it is all about inspiration.
I caught up with my friend KariAnne the other day and as usual, it was a chat full of lots of laughing and so much fun. On her blog last week- she shared 8 of the cutest (and easiest!) winter DIY projects.
This Blueberry Bread looks absolutely delicious- and so easy to make. Find the Recipe Here
And if you are looking for something simple full of treats that is also beautiful presentation -this sweet treat charcuterie board was a big hit last year for Valentine’s Day.
Stay tuned for the next post in our slow living series, a simple winter white grocery store floral arrangement and 3 ideas for creating a romantic setting at home for Valentines or any special occasion.
Happy weekend all.
