I am feeling all spring inspired over here. The birds are singing in the mornings, the evenings are staying light longer and I am thinking about kinds of warm weather fun in the garden. And that means alllll kinds of flower filled spring decorating is coming your way. Starting with front door decor.
Today- it is a different kind of way to decorate your front door. It isn’t just all flowers all the time over here (okay- it kind of is most of the time) but today it is also about lush beautiful greens and a pop of color with citrus.
Under the Tuscan Sun
Even though we aren’t traveling to Italy right now- I am inspired by the ideas and warmth that I felt when we were in Positano in October of 2019. Seems like SO long ago- but it was just over a year ago- and it was just before everything changed around the world in 2020.
Italy is full of big beautiful lemons, olive trees and lots of warm colors on repeat. And this front door decor was inspired by just that.
Baskets of beauty
I am a HUGE fan of baskets on front doors. They make me think of little English cottages with thatched roofs and lots of wildflowers and gardens.
And this one? Well, this one is talking loudly to me right now.
Olive & Citrus Basket
I mean… I cannot get over how much I love this arrangement on the door. Fresh olive clippings and fruit = so much spring and summer feeling and beauty.
I started with just a simple basket- this one is actually a bicycle basket that I repurposed into a door basket. It works. I filled this basket with fresh clipped olive branches- complete with a few olives still on the branches- and it was beyond beautiful. I actually really love the simplicity of just the greens here- it is such a charming look.
But, you know I had to bring in some of the Italian inspired sunshine with fruit. I used Kumquats and lemons to add that warmth.
Get The Look
You know what the best part about this basket of fruit and greens is? This olive and citrus door basket is one that I recreated from a beautiful faux arrangement at Balsam Hill. Their Villa Cucina collection is beyond- and if you love this look- you can add it to your door this spring too.
You can see just how realistic the faux looks next to the real foliage.
I also recreated the real olive and fruit version of the wreath too.
The door basket kind of has my heart – and you will be seeing this one pop up here again soon- and you might be surprised at another way I am using it for decor.
