A day spent in the garden creating some floral magic gets me a little giddy.

Flowers just bring smiles. Happy moments and a whole lot of beauty where ever they are. Spring and summer bring an abundance of blooms and they continue blooming into autumn. So after doing the flowers for a fall wedding, we brought them to the garden for a magic filled gathering.
Flower Filled Magic
When I was working on my book French Country Cottage In Bloom, I was dreaming up all the settings and arrangements and ways to create the magic and then capture it with my camera. The greenhouse garden blooms magically in layers of lovely in autumn and it is the perfect time to do a little garden wander and set up a beautiful gathering.
Floral Filled Table
I started with arrangements on the table- white roses, hydrangeas, stock, baby’s breath & thistle with eucalyptus were the stars of the bouquet. I placed them into large fishbowl vases and marched them down the center of the table.

We also created a fresh flower filled ‘arch’ that framed the view and led to the table – I will delve further into how we did that in another post

While the table was lovely, the cherub fountain in the garden was a delightful little spot for even more magic.
Cherub Fountain Floral
I tucked fresh flowers directly into the water in the tiers of the fountain to create a cascade of blooming beauty.
Each bowl was filled on one side stem by stem to create an abundant display. Near the base of the fountain, we set a vintage cast iron table to hold candles and a single large arrangement for a moody glow.

A few tips for creating a flower filled fountain display:
Start with fresh, clean water without any chemicals in the fountain so that you can place your flower stems directly into the water. I found this to be the easiest way to create the floral display- but you can also use containers of water for your flowers as well if you don’t want them directly in the fountain water.
Use a variety of single color flowers for an elegant look. This all white display was full of flowers left over after a wedding and created an abundance of elegance for a fountain in bloom.
Use candles, battery operated lights and string lights for ambiance and moody magic. Overhead, tucked along the path, on the table and more.
You don’t have to do a 2 tier fountain design, a single fountain basin full of flowers is beautiful as well.
If you prefer, you can use outdoor safe faux (in a fountain with water) or faux in a dry fountain as well. The bonus with faux is that the fountain display will last much longer and you can bring in something like a garland to layer in on the basin which makes it easy to tuck in fresh stems as well.

What do you think of this flower filled garden fountain and table? Is this a gathering you would like to join?
