When you find something as fabulous as this vintage cherub – you bring it home. I am in love with this beautiful vintage cherub statue and since I also love table settings – you know that I was thinking centerpiece. So before we put this pair of chubby cement cherubs where they belonged- I decided to play with a simple centerpiece idea
Vintage Cherub
Chipping paint, exposed cement, lichen and bits of crust here and there- so much love for this pair of cherubs-and in the center of the table- beyond lovely.

Just look at that sweet face and all the character and charm this statue has. I am quite literally obsessed. This came home with us as part of a larger buy of vintage garden- and as I mentioned, it landed somewhere else just after these photos were snapped. But I did enjoy playing with it a bit for a special project and also to share here on the blog.
Where to find vintage statuary
I scoured marketplace (as usual) and bumped into several people selling old cement wares- from garden pots to statues to fountains – it seems there is a big market of them here in California. You can also shop places like antique stores, thrift stores, eBay & Etsy and craigslist (does anyone use that anymore?) and you just might bump into something you love.

What to search
Of course, what you search depends on what type of vintage statuary you are looking for. I would start with ‘Antique’ or ‘Vintage’ or ‘Old’ and include ‘garden’ and for something like this piece ‘cherub’ or. ‘putti’ and ‘statue’ You never know what might pop up. I am always surprised by some of the things I bump into. If you do find something you fall in love with- message right away to let the seller know you are interested. I would let the seller you know are ready to buy (if you are)- I have noticed that vintage statuary tends to sell very quickly so wording with hesitation might not be the best way to navigate the sale.
Details
There is so much that I look for with vintage elements and garden statuary bits are no different. Details, condition, and the all important ‘triple love’ factor. This one didn’t take a lot of thought process to make a move on- it was a winner on all those levels right away.
Price
Always a factor and I will be honest- sometimes the price is higher than is where I am in my mind. If that is the case- consider if you can wiggle a bit on your comfort zone and if so, go for it. While perusing for vintage garden- I was seeing prices anywhere from $20 to in the thousands depending on what you are looking for.

Where To Enjoy Vintage Statues
I mean- ANYWHERE is a good spot in my opinion. On a sideboard, on a table, on the floor if it is large. In the sunroom or any room filled with lots of windows for a garden feeling. The entry, bathroom, etc. or in the garden. Anywhere you feel it fits well and looks good is perfect.
As I mentioned, this spot on the table was pretty quick. It was here just a couple of days for a print project and I snapped these quick photos to share here and then it was off to where it belonged where it truly fits perfectly. Stay tuned for just where that is coming your way. Side note: This piece is MUCH HEAVIER and taller in person- so it won’t be moving around again.
