What better for a vintage attic than a vintage tinsel tree? I have long adored that shiny aluminum Christmas tree look. Paired with pretty pastels, mercury glass ornaments and dainty florals- it is a dreamy little Christmas attic moment.

Vintage Tinsel Tree
This vintage tinsel tree was a marketplace find. I actually bought it without even seeing it in person and my mom picked it up for me. I knew that it would be perfect for the attic – with those sweet little aluminum tinsel tree branches and charming vintage shape. You can find these in a range of prices in places like Marketplace, antique shops and eBay. This one was a great price that I just happened to see post within a few minutes and so I was able to grab it quickly.

These vintage tinsel trees come without lights- though you can a color wheel that projects light onto them. So if you want to enjoy them lit up- you will need to add a strand or two of lights or some other kind of lighting. I plopped those fairy cafe lights on the tree to show it all aglow so you can see what it looks like but they won’t be staying here.
I used just a handful of vintage mercury glass ornaments to dress the tinsel branches. Honestly, this tree looks pretty fabulous just by itself so it doesn’t need much. I also tied a few ripped fabric ribbons on it just for a bit of extra sweetness.
Vintage Bear & Sheep Footstool

The cutest little properly dressed vintage bear pillow on the bed adds another touch of sweetness in the attic. I have been collecting various vintage toys and bits for holiday stylings this year and this bear and the little sheep next to the tree are two of those treasures.
We are a bit in the middle of some updating in the attic -just starting on a fresh coat of paint and different paper since this paper has a few issues after a moisture problem from those heavy storms we had recently. I am excited to get the changes made and will share more soon.
Pretty Packages & Papers
Underneath the tree, I layered some pretty packages in some of this years favorite prints for the grand babies and some vintage prints. Vintage newspaper wrapped with fabric scrap bows and some of the sweetest vintage inspired prints I recently found.

I used various velvet and satin ribbons to tie several together. Easy and elegant in a snap.

vEry sweet; love this space but wondering why you chose lights with green wire instead of white for the tonsel tree..
They were just what I had on hand for the photo. As I mentioned- they aren’t staying on the tree, just added them to show what it would look like lit up for those who might be wondering.
precious and festive Courtney! I love your attic wallpaper as is, and it’s minor issues. it’s what makes it look authentically vintage in my opinion. imperfectly perfect! I’m sure your new plans will be lovely too. your style always is! 💕
merry Christmas to you and your family!

Lovely, very warm and inviting! I was thrilled when i found one at an estate sale.
A little suggestion……If you fluff out the limbs on the tinsel tree or handle them a bit, slip on a pair of gloves, disposable Works well.my hands felt like paper cuts tho i didn’t see anything.
I love everything about your attic. The toys are great and the tree is darling.

I love this attic room! It reminds me of my great GRANDPARENTS home in Calgary. I loved to spend time up there when i was little, playing with my moms dolls:) Just lovely! I live in Canada, i was wondering if your ceiling has insulation or it it just planks and shingles outside. I know, weird question with this post being about christmas, but i would love to do this in my house upstairs. I quess in california, insulation is different in homes.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Hi Pamela, yes, there is insulation behind the wood plank ceiling in between the roof sheathing and ceiling inside. Hope that helps!
Your attic is like a magical hide away that takes me back to my childhood – except I love everything about it as an adult! It is like a fairy tale with every piece being magical and beautiful. I just want to cozy up on that gorgeous vintage bed and take it all in! Oh how I adore that vintage sheep! I also love the sheep you found us on Amazon. I must be a kid at heart because I want to order it…lol!
