The swedish inspired armoire has moved…
into my oldest sons old bedroom.
He moved out into his first place on his own…
The guest cottage bedroom… across the lawn!
🙂
( I think he is breaking me in easy on his growing up because he knows I am not ready!)
So I will be redesigning the space…
Here are some of my inspiration rooms and colors I am thinking about~

(Inspiration rooms & colors courtesy of Country French Magazine, Great Country French Style book and Ethan Allen Style book)
LOVE THEM!!
The color, the design, desks, accents, details… oh my… I love it!
I have wood paneled walls, swedish inspired furniture and other elements to work with so…
this tiny little old bedroom will become the office/guest bedroom/ junque space.
For now, I have gotten the armoire set up and started putting some of my fabrics, store items, shipping stuff and tools in it. I haven’t had much time to think about decoration, design or how it will all come together yet…

(I did find a spot for my vintage chippy basket filled with hydrangeas on the top though!)
I have to paint the room, swap out the moulding and the details like the light switch cover (currently a metal band light switch cover) and rearrange and organize.
My handyman extraordinaire son Cullan helped put some shelves in the center space of the armoire for me.

I will be painting them or covering them with fabric- haven’t decided yet.

In the space that already had the shelves and two drawers, there is a perfect area for a
cork board on the inside of the door (where the fabric is now) for all the notes and bits that need a place to be.

The drawers are deep and roomy and will hold all my necessary tools, trims and what~nots… though the lining lacks in character- that’s an easy fix.

I am getting so excited about having some of my stuff organized in this one piece and in one place!
I can’t wait to get going on the re-do of the space~
I’ll share more as the elements of the room start coming together.

I just found your blog tonight and LOVE IT! I love french country as well! And I have the second picture as one of my inspiration pictures as well! I save all my specialty french country magazines to refer to! Anyway, just wanted to say hello. And I LOVE the little pics you have posted of your home, I'd love to see more! 🙂

Your armoire is exquisite! Love your second inspirational picture with the tole trays. I know it's sad when the children move on but look at it this way – you now have another room to decorate! Now that my step-daughter is gone, my son will be moving to her room (it's bigger) so I'll be redoing that room and the room he is moving out of. Two rooms to decorate – yipee!

That armoire is so pretty! I love the color of it. Looks like you are going to have fun putting together that room. You have some great inspiration with those photos.
I have the second pic in my inspiration book too. I am a tole tray fanatic! Whatever you do, I can't wait to see it.The armoire is gorgeous. did you paint it, and if so what color is it? Looks kinda dark grey?
Your Gustavian armoire is just perfect! I love it!!! Love your inspiration photos, especially the last one. I'm sure yours will turn out very pretty.

What a GORGEOUS armoire! I can't wait to see what you do with this space as I'm sure it will be amazing! That cracked me up about your son "moving out". My son says when he is a grown-up he is going to buy the neighbor's house so he can live next door to us! 🙂

gorgeous armoire!
thanks for stopping by and visiting me~
I finished painting the shelf yesterday and can't wait to hang it up- too bad my hubby left town for the rest of the week! :/
Your rooms are gorgeous-it's sometimes hard to tell which are the inspiration rooms, and which are yours!
🙂
Looks great so far! I can't wait to see the final organization.
Bonnie 🙂
I just found your blog…very pretty! I love your armoire. I have one in my living room for all my crafty things. Pretty and useful all in one, what could be better?
Best wishes 🙂
That is such a beautiful piece and I especially love the color. I'm not sure which of your inspiration photos I like best – they are all so inviting w/rich colors. You could take a piece from each, I suppose! -diane
Hi Courtney…
Ohh my gosh…I sooo love your beautiful Gustavian armoire and it sure is wonderful storage as well! How sweet of your son to help add the shelves. I love all of your inspiration photos…the first one especially caught my eye! Whatever you decide…I know it will be fabulous! What fun!!! Hmmm…now I am thinking that since this is a repost…maybe you have already finished this project room? You'll have to let me know so that I can take a peek!
Thank you so much for joining in with the fun of Sunday Favorites, my friend! This was such a treat!
Have a wonderful week, Courtney!

All the furniture I see in this post is spectacular.
All our children are out of the nest now – – – much as I love them, I find being on our own after 33 years a very pleasant experience!!! Afterall, we were only on our own for about a year and a half BEFORE those whipper snappers started coming!
I was surprised the other day to find that my favorite second-hand furniture store was flat out of armoires! Usually there are anywhere from a half dozen to ten or more in the place. Do you suppose the love affair with a piece of furniture that provides plenty of storage space and the opportunity to show off our painting skills has caused a run on armoires? I sure hope not, as I am ready to buy two, one for sound equipment and one for art supply storage. Now will have to hunt them down on my own. And my sweetheart does not go in for the entertainment value of auctions…..which usually take place on date night……auction, dancehall, auction, dancehall, which shall I choose?????? Decisions, decisions….Anyone else with this new problem?
